DARCY BAYLIS RELEASES NEW ALBUM EMOTRONICA
Australian producer and songwriter Darcy Baylis has released his fourth solo album Emotronica –– out now. Emotronica runs through its influences and themes with ease, combining thumping synths and emo riffs swinging side to side. From the Australian producer behind three albums of club-schooled emo and collaborations with the likes of Ninajirachi, daine and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, Emotronica arrives with three features from close collaborators Ninajirachi, Photographic Memory, and Forever ☆, bringing the distinct sound and aesthetic that Darcy Baylis has been building to his first solo project in two years.
Emotronica lands in the middle of the busiest production run of Baylis’ career. He contributed production to Ninajirachi‘s breakout 2025 album I Love My Computer, and has worked with returning collaborators daine, Debby Friday and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal. Writing trips to Los Angeles and London across the last 2 years put him in rooms with newer collaborators Wisp, nothing, nowhere., After, and Photographic Memory – the last of those sessions produced “Visa”, the first time the two have appeared on a record together. Two of those relationships turned into projects he steered from the desk in 2025: in June, Pack Records released daine’s EP i want the light to swallow me whole, which Baylis executive produced. In August, Royal Mountain and Sub Pop released Debby Friday’s sophomore project The Starrr Of The Queen Of Life, which Friday and Baylis built over long studio days in London. Baylis has passed 57 million streams across his solo and production catalog. In 2025 he relocated to Los Angeles to work from a new studio with producer Max Epstein, which led to the two forming the band at the forefront of the current “Revivalcore” scene, Car Underwater.
