NINAJIRACHI & PORTER ROBINSON UNITE IN LONG AWAITED CREATIVE KINSHIP ON “WannaCry

After debuting the track live at Coachella and teasing across multiple shows and festivals, including Primavera Sound, EDC Las Vegas, Dark Crystal, Project Glow and Dark Mofo, two trailblazers of the electronic underground, Ninajirachi and Porter Robinson, today unite for their highly anticipated collaboration, “WannaCry”.

In a long-awaited joining of forces for Ninajirachi and Porter Robinson, “WannaCry” is a collaboration that dates right back to Ninajirachi’s first-ever concert as a teenager: Porter Robinson at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. Just over a decade later in 2026, she returned to the same stage to headline a sold-out show for her Dark Crystal V series earlier this month, in a full-circle moment and creative partnership that channels a shared affection for computer music and online youth culture into their first official release.

“WannaCry” is Ninajirachi and Porter Robinson bridging their synonymous crystalline pop sensibilities in a creative kinship that has come to define a new generation of electronic music. A sharp, shiny meeting of minds, “WannaCry” is written from the POV of the infamous 2017 WannaCry ransomware virus and reframes its malice as something beautiful. The result is a dynamic release that unites Porter Robinson’s adept electropop fantasias with Ninajirachi’s one-of-a-kind production sensibilities in a showcase of their creative heights.

Teased across a string of live dates over the last few months, Ninajirachi and Porter Robinson continue to expand the possibilities of electronic music in a pop culture moment shaped by digital youth culture and a lifetime spent entrenched in computer music. The new single arrives ahead of Ninajirachi’s Lollapalooza performance, where she’ll play the Airbnb Stage on Thursday, July 30, before making her Hinterland Music Festival debut on the Campfire Stage the following day, Friday, July 31.

At age 18, the North Carolina-based producer and songwriter burst onto the scene with a bombastic brand of electro-house before eventually charting major success with his electropop 2014 debut album Worlds. In 2016, Porter released the RIAA Gold single “Shelter” with Madeon, and the following year he began releasing music under the alias Virtual Self, earning his first Grammy nomination for the BBC Radio 1 hit “Ghost Voices”. Following the release of his sophomore album Nurture in 2021, Robinson’s North American tour became the highest-grossing electronic tour of the year. In 2022, he partnered with Riot Games on “Everything Goes On”, which surpassed 100 million global streams, before bringing his full live band performance to Coachella’s main stage in 2023.
