DJ.FRESH & THE MUSALINI RELEASE NEW ALBUM LIVE AND LET FLY
Fresh off their appearance this week on Sway In The Morning, Bay Area maestro DJ.Fresh and NYC emcee The Musalini have just released their new collaborative album Live and Let Fly — out now along with an accompanying music video for “Late Nite”. The project follows the release of “Players Ball” and the album’s title track as well as lead single “Red Eye”, a lush, bass-heavy ode to California rap culture that found the New York underground king giving the West Coast its flowers. That spirit of bi-coastal admiration runs deep throughout the pair’s 12-track project, with the The Musalini weaving sharp rhyme schemes across DJ.Fresh‘s infectious, sample-based production. Live and Let Fly marks their first full-length collaboration and follows the release of “She Can’t Be Mad” off of DJ.Fresh‘s 2024 album with Curren$y, The Tonite Show The Sequel.
Hailing from California, DJ.Fresh cemented a name for himself with his The Tonite Show project series, which now boasts dozens of volumes and has featured a star-studded guest list of artists that includes Jay Rock, Paul Wall, Don Toliver, Larry June, Freddie Gibbs, E-40, and Wiz Khalifa, the latter of whom he collaborated with for standout track “What’s Hannin” off his latest album, Kush + Orange Juice 2. The Musalini, meanwhile, garnered attention with a prolific stream of solo releases before breaking out with The Don & Eye in 2022, which led to the rapper inking a deal with Jamla Records in 2023.
