Earlier this week on December 9th, global pop powerhouse Dua Lipa sat down with her collaborator and 9x Grammy, Academy Award, and Golden Globe-winning producer and songwriter Mark Ronson at New York City’s iconic Hotel Chelsea to discuss his new memoir Night People as part of the Service95 Book Club With Dua Lipa podcast.

The memoir, which earned a spot on the New York Times Bestseller’s list and the Sunday Times Top 10 Bestseller’s list upon release in September, captures the music, characters, escapades, and energy of Mark’s early DJ days, while conjuring the undeniable magic of the city’s bygone nightlife.

The evening was introduced by the legendary New York DJ Belinda Becker, who has previously collaborated with Mark and is also featured in Night People.

In their wide-spanning conversation, Dua and Mark delved into Mark’s process while writing the book, revealing that he spoke to somewhere between 100 and 150 people from that era to recount what he describes as “an unsung scene” and give voice to “the people who made New York what it is now.” Mark brought those stories to life on stage during two different excerpts that he read throughout their conversation.

For Dua, Night People completes a trilogy of memoirs, following her book club interviews with Patti Smith for Just Kids, which chronicles New York in the ‘60s and ‘70s; Jennifer Clement for Widow Basquiat, which spans New York in the ‘80s; and now Mark Ronson for Night People, which celebrates the city’s energy throughout the ‘90s. “I didn’t really know how much we needed this third act until I read your book,” she shared. “It feels very poignant for a very particular time.”

Stay tuned for the full video episode of Dua & Mark’s conversation, which will be available starting Tuesday, January 6th across platforms on the Service95 Book Club With Dua Lipa podcast.

Earlier this fall, the Service95 Book Club, in partnership with Spotify and the New York Public Library, hosted its first-ever NYC live author Q&A between Dua and David Szalay, author of the now Booker Prize-awarded novel Flesh. During their conversation, the two discussed the book’s fragmented structure, emotional realism, masculinity, and how global events shape main character István’s quiet but profound transformation. Check out their full conversation here.

The Service95 Book Club With Dua Lipa podcast is the latest addition to Dua’s Service95 platform. Upon its launch, the podcast was recognized among the Best Podcasts of the Week by The Guardian and recently landed atop Spotify’s list of the Best Video Podcasts of 2025. The Service95 Book Club and its accompanying podcast has also been lauded by PAPER who praised it is “a series of fascinating conversations with fascinating authors” and The Telegraph who crowned Dua “one of Britain’s foremost literary tastemakers.” Service95 consists of the aforementioned book club and podcast, Dua’s At Your Service podcast, and the flagship Service95 newsletter and website.
