EM BEIHOLD IS “SCARED OF THE DARK” ON NEW SINGLE OUT NOW
Platinum-selling singer-songwriter Em Beihold drops an alternately cozy and catchy new single entitled “Scared of the Dark”, out now on all streaming platforms via Republic Records. It unfolds yet another facet of her ever-expanding creative world.
As if flipping a switch, the song builds from vulnerable verses into a vibrant refrain spiked with an up-tempo rhythm and strutting bassline. Piano blinks through a steady rhythm, and Em makes a confession on the hook, “I’m scared of the dark and my co-dependent heart. What made that noise, was it a ghost? No, I can’t be alone.” It has all the makings of an open-hearted and identifiable signature anthem from the songstress.
Regarding the song, she said, “I wrote ‘Scared of the Dark’ when I was in a relationship where my gut knew it wasn’t right, but I loved the person so deeply it made it hard to leave. I was in a very emotional period of my life and the codependency overpowered what I knew was the best for me.”
It follows “Hot Goblin,” which has amassed nearly 5 million total streams.
