FC Dallas Signs 2019 SuperDraft No. 4 Overall Pick Callum Montgomery
Montgomery inks deal ahead of rookie season
FC Dallas has signed 2019 MLS SuperDraft pick Callum Montgomery (1st round, 4th overall) to a contract, the club announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
Montgomery, 21, has played in five preseason matches since being drafted.
Montgomery played four seasons at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, scoring 11 goals and tallying seven assists in 70 starts. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches’ First Team All-American and Conference USA Defender of the Year in 2018.
The 6-3 defender helped the Charlotte 49ers reach the Conference USA Men’s Soccer Tournament all four years, including the Championship Final in 2017 and 2018. In 2016, he was instrumental in Charlotte’s Conference USA regular-season title, giving the 49ers a national ranking for the entire season and a national seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The British Columbia-native is the son of general practitioners and studied biology at Charlotte.
