GLOBAL AFROBEATS STAR VICTONY RELEASES “SLICK” REMIX FEATURING DON TOLIVER AND SUMMER WALKER

Global Afrobeats star Victony joins forces with multi-platinum hip-hop artist Don Toliver and GRAMMY-nominated R&B powerhouse Summer Walker for the remix of his hit “SLICK”, pairing Victony’s fluid melodies and nimble vocal delivery with Don’s hazy, psychedelic sound and Summer’s soulful vocals. The remix brings Victony’s Afrobeats sensibility into conversation with two leading voices in contemporary hip-hop and R&B, extending the song’s reach across global music culture.
Victony and Don Toliver first connected on the global hit “Soweto (Remix),” later bringing that chemistry to the stage when Toliver brought Victony out at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to perform “Soweto (Remix)” and “SLICK.” Earlier this summer, Summer Walker added her own soulful R&B spin to “SLICK,” sharing her rendition on Instagram as the “Thick Slick Remix,” which quickly sparked calls for an official collaboration. Now, those moments converge on a remix that brings three distinct musical voices together while expanding Victony’s genre-fluid approach.
Built around Victony’s singular melodic sensibility and instinctive approach to experimentation, STARLIFE moves between Afrobeats, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Afro-Rage, exploring ambition, desire, intimacy, and self-discovery without being confined to one sound. The FADER praised the album’s “sexy smooth” approach, while its 15-track debut saw eight tracks debut on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart in the same week, including “SLICK” at No. 2. STARLIFE has since surpassed 186.2 million global streams, with “SLICK” crossing 102.6 million and reaching No. 1 on both the UK Official Afrobeats Chart and Nigeria’s Top 100, marking Victony’s first official solo No. 1 in Nigeria. The track also reached No. 8 on the Global Shazam Top Songs Chart and was included in Harper’s BAZAAR’s Song of the Summer selection.
From the sleek, luxurious “FRE$H” and genre-blurring “SLICK” to the high-life fantasy of “STARLIFE,” sensual “FYNE,” intimate “TWIN” featuring FOLA, and Afrohouse-inflected “ARMED AND DANGEROUS” featuring Young Jonn, the album gives Victony room to explore different sides of his sound while maintaining the melodic instinct at its core. That evolution has earned recognition from peers across the continent, including South African artist Musa Keys, who has credited Victony with helping push Afrobeats forward.
Victony has continued to bring STARLIFE to life onstage, performing at AfroPlus Fest in Washington, D.C. this fall before delivering an acoustic rendition of “SLICK” and an Afrobeats medley for BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Live Lounge. He also performed at Composers Breakfast Club in Malibu and AFRIMMA Fest in Texas, further expanding his live presence across the U.S. Looking ahead, Victony is set to join Don Toliver on the European leg of his Nitrous tour this fall, with dates spanning cities including Paris, Milan, Berlin, Amsterdam, Dublin, and London, and is also slated to perform at Afro Nation Portugal 2027.
The album follows the trajectory ignited by the 2022 breakout “Soweto,” which has surpassed 1.2 billion global streams and 202 million YouTube views. Its remix featuring Rema and Don Toliver has amassed more than 146 million views, while “Soweto” earned Victony a 2023 Headies win for Best Recording of the Year. He continued expanding his sound across 2024’s Stubborn, featuring Asake, Saint JHN, Shallipopi, Teezo Touchdown, and Shorae Moore, and 2025’s Very Stubborn, featuring Don Jazzy, Olamide, Terry G, and Shorae Moore, earning him a COLORS performance and features in Teen Vogue, BBC, GRAMMY.com, and UPROXX. With STARLIFE, that evolution has been met with coverage from NPR, Billboard, The FADER, VIBE, Entertainment Tonight, and more.
From “Soweto” to STARLIFE and now the “SLICK” remix, Victony has continued to expand his reach without limiting himself to one sound or scene. The new collaboration with Don Toliver and Summer Walker brings that instinct into focus, connecting Afrobeats with the global hip-hop and R&B landscape while reflecting the creative freedom that has become central to Victony’s evolution.
