GRAMMY-nominated singer, songwriter, and producer Charlie Bereal returns with his new single “Chocolate Woman”, out now via Death Row Records/gamma.. Known for blending the many instruments he plays directly into his records, Charlie showcases this skill on “Chocolate Woman,” which features a lush, full sound. The track flows through live trumpets, chimes, guitar, and his unmistakable vocal tone, creating a retro-soul vibe with a modern emotional edge. His style has drawn comparisons to Teddy Pendergrass and Curtis Mayfield for its rich musicianship and heartfelt storytelling.
Though he stepped into the spotlight with his debut album Walk With The Father last year, Charlie Bereal is no stranger to the music industry. He has lent his signature guitar melodies and production to iconic tracks, including Aaliyah’s “More Than a Woman,” Missy Elliott’s “One Minute Man,” and Mýa’s “Like Whoa,” while collaborating with music legends such as JAY-Z, Toni Braxton, Tweet, Ja Rule, Busta Rhymes, Terrace Martin, and Raphael Saadiq.
Born into a musical family in Pasadena, California, Charlie’s journey began in the church, where he honed his craft on percussion before discovering his calling on guitar. By high school, he was touring with Grammy-winning gospel singer Donnie McClurkin, a formative experience that set the stage for his career. Despite his behind-the-scenes work with some of the biggest names in music, Bereal felt a deep calling to create his own music, blending classic soul, gospel, and R&B with a modern, cinematic sensibility.
