Slipknot continued their tour in Mansfield Thursday night celebrating 25 years of their self-titled album which was originally released on June 29th, 1999.. With support from Knocked Loose, a hardcore band and Orbit Culture melodic death metal band, rounding out a great night of heavy music for fans of all ages.
The Xfinity Center took on yet another storm which cleared, lifting the rain delay to keep the night rolling right on time. Orbit Culture from Sweden was first to take the stage as drummer Christopher Wallerstedt’s bass drum erupted throughout the amphitheater capturing the crowd to start the night. The Swedish four piece played a seven song set which included songs off three of their albums including “Descent”, “North Star of Nija” and “Vultures of North”.

Next up, Kentucky’s own Knocked Loose took the stage, and the crowd went wild as soon as Kevin “Pac” Kane, Knocked Loose’s drummer appeared behind the kit. The pit’s energy doubled as they started their second song “Mistakes Like Fractures” off of their second studio album A Different Shade of Blue. Vocalist Bryan Garris commanded the crowd to MOVE as “Deadringer” off of their first studio album “Laugh Tracks” began. Oldham County’s own brought a set of 14 songs which got the crowd completely amped for Slipknot.

An eerie tone started over the speakers as you heard a little girl’s voice whispering “Do you want play?” as the 8 piece slowly took the stage. Last to take the stage, vocalist Corey Taylor was welcomed by a standing ovation from the fans. “(sic)” began and the energy of the crowd and of every member was truly electric. It did not matter if you were in the pit or up on the lawn the energy was at 100% throughout. After they finished their main set, the crowd was begging for more and Slipknot gave them exactly what they wanted with a three song encore of “Spit it Out”, “Surfacing” and finally “Scissors”. As soon as their last note finished, the skies opened up and lighting could be seen for miles giving the ultimate finale to an incredible night.
