The accolades keep rolling in for GRAMMY® Award-nominated visionary Hitmaka. He just took home “Producer of the Year” at the BET Hip Hop Awards. This achievement recognized his impact as one of the most prolific and prominent forces in the game right now, shaping the culture with one banger after another.
Additionally, the legendary producer recently sat down with Okayplayer for an in-depth interview about the early days of his career and the grind it took to get to where he’s at today. He also spoke candidly about his relationship with the late rapper PnB Rock, and his experiences working with him just a week before his untimely death.
Check out the interview HERE.
Hitmaka’s current executive position at Empire, as VP of A&R, has landed him opportunities to executive projects for artists such as Bleu, Fabolous, Jim Jones, Tink, Chris Brown, Lil Baby, and more.
Meanwhile, his latest single, “Down Bad” [feat. Fabolous, Jeremih, & Ivory Scott] continues to increase numbers as it nears 2 million streams. HotNewHipHop gave the track rave reviews calling it “a smooth, Afrobeats jam that is perfect for these summer months and will certainly land itself on vacation playlists.” Rap Radar praised the single’s music video, writing that “over the super producer’s dance-ready production, Loso, Jeremih, and Ivory Scott bring their romantic vibes in the presence of a bevy of women from an outdoor pool party to the bedroom.” In the official premiere on Revolt, the outlet wrote that Hitmaka “continues to remain one of the most sought-after producers in music.”
This summer, Hitmaka took to social media to celebrate selling 100 million records. In the Instagram post, he detailed his journey to the top of the hip-hop game and showed off the brand new plaque he received commemorating the milestone.
“My whole purpose is to be a testimony and inspire other people and show them that anything is possible,” he said to his followers. “I’m me, I’m still me, but when you put God first, they can’t do anything about it.”
Stay tuned for even more to come from Hitmaka!
