Honda scores podium finish in WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca 120

Honda returned to the podium in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series, with the MMG team scoring a third-place finish with LP Montour and Karl Wittmer in their #93 Honda Civic Type R TCR.
Despite contact from a GS class car just after halfway that caused handling issues, the MMG Civic never dropped below fourth place in the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca 120, ultimately bringing home the first hardware of the season for Honda teams and drivers.
The #5 KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering Honda Civic Type R TCR showed podium pace, keeping up with—and oftentimes leading—the Honda contingent of cars during the two-hour race. The team was able to overcome a small technical issue to score their second-straight fifth place finish. So far in the 2026 season, drivers Tim Lewis and Rocco Pasquarella are yet to finish outside of the top six in the TCR class.
Unfortunately, the #72 Pegram Racing Honda Civic Type R TCR of the father-daughter duo of Larry and Riley Pegram was forced to retire early after a mechanical issue.

Quotes
Karl Wittmer (#93 MMG Honda Civic Type R TCR) finished third: “What a great race. Yeah, it’s an awesome race to be on the podium here in California with all the Honda reps here. I can’t ask for a better result. You know, we had tough luck at the starting off the year, so it’s time to pivot and turn it around. We know what this team can do, we know what our Honda Civic can do. So on to the next, super pumped. We’re going to go party now!
LP Montour (#93 MMG Honda Civic Type R TCR) finished third: “Great race, back on the podium. I’m really excited about it. During my stint, my job is to keep the car clean during the first part of the race. Drivers were very aggressive in front of me so I just stayed patient and gave Karl a perfect car and he was able to close it out. Awesome job by everyone at MMG!”
