Honda Showcases Career Opportunities for Students Through National Manufacturing Day Activities

Honda is hosting events across its U.S. production facilities in conjunction with Manufacturing Day (MFG) focusing on the career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry. These annual events are part of the company’s ongoing commitment to fostering an innovative manufacturing workforce that can drive economic prosperity and a bright future for the next generation.
The events, which are expected to draw more than 1,500 students and teachers from more than 50 schools, will be hosted at ten Honda facilities across the country where students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, including virtual reality simulation and artificial intelligence, to show how these tools are used in modern manufacturing. Honda facilities in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina, and South Carolina are participating in the annual event that introduces students to a range of opportunities in manufacturing.
In addition to these activities where students can interact directly with Honda manufacturing associates, personnel from the Honda Procurement and Supply Chain Center (PSCC) will participate in events for the first time. PSCC associates will lead an interactive bag charm activity designed to introduce students to supply chain concepts and demonstrate how materials, parts, and products move through the manufacturing process.
“Manufacturing Day is about opening our doors and inspiring the next generation,” said Meredith Reffey, Workforce Partnerships Leader at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “By giving students a firsthand look at modern manufacturing, we help them see exciting career opportunities and reinforce Honda’s commitment to developing a strong workforce in the communities where we operate.”
Manufacturing Day Activities at Honda
At each location, students will learn about manufacturing from the associates who build today’s world-class Honda and Acura automobiles, engines, aircraft and powersports products. Visiting students will tour a Honda manufacturing facility to see how advanced technology, automation, and associate collaboration combine to drive modern manufacturing. Students will also experience a variety of Honda and Acura products produced in the company’s U.S. facilities using domestic and globally made parts.
Each participating Honda facility will offer exciting, immersive experiences for students that are unique to its location and the products it builds.
- Alabama – Students will participate in a team assembly challenge and a Lego production activity that demonstrates some of the skills needed in the manufacturing process. Honda associates at the Alabama Auto Plant will explain how they build the Honda Odyssey, Passport, Pilot and Ridgeline, in addition to the V-6 engines that power them.
- Georgia – Students can try their hand at securing a bolt and will learn about the use of electronics and connectivity in manufacturing. Honda associates at the Honda Transmission Plant in Georgia (TMP-G) will show students how they build automatic transmissions, gears, and components that help power Honda and Acura cars and light trucks.
- Indiana – Students will virtually weld parts of a vehicle and learn about assembly lines through a Lego challenge. Associates at the Honda Indiana Auto Plant (IAP) will share insights about advanced manufacturing and will instruct on how 3D printing and other innovations aid in the production of the Honda Civic Hatchback and CR-V.
- Ohio – Students will participate in a “spot-the-defect” game, mimicking the inspection processes that ensure the quality of Honda and Acura vehicles, as well as torque bolt races, a paint matching game and a bolt stacking game, highlighting assembly jobs. Associates across Honda manufacturing facilities in Ohio, including the Marysville Auto Plant (MAP), East Liberty Auto Plant (ELP), Anna Engine Plant (AEP), and the transmission plant in Russells Point (TMP-O) will connect with students in an expo-style setting, explaining different areas and methods used in building Honda and Acura products, engines, and the Honda two-motor hybrid-electric system, as well as demonstrating new technology innovations.
- North Carolina – Students will experience a variety of the products made at the Honda North Carolina Manufacturing facility and participate in a virtual reality activity and model car assembly, demonstrating the teamwork and attention to detail required in building Honda products, including the Honda FourTrax, TRX series all-terrain vehicle models, and a variety of outdoor power equipment products.
At Honda Aircraft Company, local students will explore advanced aviation manufacturing through hands-on STEM activities and interactive demonstrations, including a flight simulator. Associates will also show students the unique technology and innovation used to produce the HondaJet Elite II. - South Carolina – During their visit, students will participate in a model vehicle assembly challenge and explore 3D printing technology while learning how Honda associates use innovation and teamwork to build side-by-side vehicles. As the exclusive global source for the Honda Pioneer and Talon, Honda South Carolina Manufacturing will offer students a unique opportunity to see cutting-edge technology, developed through problem-solving and collaboration.
