Hyundai Canada, Scotiabank, Industrial Alliance and Hyundai Capital team up to raise over $12,000 to help combat homelessness in York Region

Hyundai Auto Canada (HAC), in partnership Scotiabank, Industrial Alliance, Hyundai Capital Canada and a variety of HAC’s vendor partners joined forces on Friday to support people experiencing homelessness in York Region, raising $12,099 during the annual Hockey Helps the Homeless tournament. This is the third year in-a-row Hyundai Canada has participated in the tournament, a national initiative that leverages Hyundai Canada’s affinity for hockey to raise awareness and financial support for the homeless. All funds go directly to 360°kids and Blue Door. In totality, Hyundai Canada, along with its partners have raised over $44,000 since its initial participation in 2022.
“At Hyundai Canada, we have solid ecosystem of vendor partners to facilitate an ever-evolving, seamless customer experience online. When we informally sought donations for our team’s annual hockey tournament fundraiser, our vendor partners answered the call immediately and took on individual calls for donations to support fighting homelessness in York Region,” says Steve Flamand, executive director of national sales and digital strategy. “This is not just a group of vendors and clients coming together for a good cause, but colleagues on a personal level rallying to help the community at a particularly difficult time of year. We’re very grateful to everyone who supported the Hyundai team this year.”
“York region has been the home of Hyundai Canada since the company started operating in Canada over 40 years ago. We feel a sense of pride and responsibility to support such a crucial cause so close to home,” says Kirk Merrett, director of human resources and administration of Hyundai Canada and board member of 360°kids. “We’re grateful to our partners for joining us in helping disadvantaged youth and adults in the York Region. The funds raised will help provide life necessities through a time of year when it’s needed the most.”
