INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY CROSSES $100 MILLION INTERNATIONALLY

BECOMES FIRST FILM IN HORROR FRANCHISE TO REACH THE MILESTONE

Sony Pictures Entertainment announced Insidious: The Last Key has crossed the $100 million mark internationally and is now the highest-grossing film in the trail-blazing horror franchise internationally.

The fourth film in the series, Insidious: The Last Key, was produced by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) through Stage 6 Films with Blumhouse Productions and has taken in $167 million worldwide to date. Universal Pictures released the film in the U.S. while Sony Pictures Releasing International distributes internationally. SPWA acquired the original Insidious at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, and all subsequent productions have been overseen by SPWA in partnership with Blumhouse Productions.

In the supernatural thriller, which welcomes back franchise standout Lin Shaye as Dr. Elise Rainier, the brilliant parapsychologist faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet: in her own family home. The film is written by co-creator and producer Leigh Whannell (Saw), who wrote the trilogy and directed Insidious: Chapter 3; produced by Jason Blum (The Purge series, Get Out, Split), Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) and co-creator James Wan (The Conjuring, Furious 7); and directed by franchise newcomer Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan). Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Charles Layton, Bailey Conway Anglewicz and Couper Samuelson serve as the film’s executive producers.
