JERRY DI WRITES WISTFUL LOVE LETTER TO VENEZUELA ON NEW SINGLE, “ASILO”

THE NEW RELEASE FOLLOWS THE ARTIST’S  2024 LATIN GRAMMY® NOMINATION IN THE COVETED “SONG OF THE YEAR” CATEGORY

Latin GRAMMY®-nominated and breakthrough phenomenon Jerry Di unveils a sentimental ode to his beloved Venezuela with the release of “Asilo.” The new track marks the grand finale of the star’s multi-track concept project, ‘ASILO COLLECTIONS: VOL V – Aceptación’.

Equally as impressive and mesmerizing as its musical composition, Jerry Di pens a heartfelt love letter, in collaboration with Yiyi Déjala Caer, to his motherland, Venezuela, and through his wistful lyrics, the artist captures the beauty of grief. Complemented by shimmering synths and a haunting bassline, Jerry Di croons “me hace falta tu energía” (I miss your energy) and confesses “yo soy de ti” (I am yours),  reminiscent of a feeling that only home can convey.

A minimalist text screen fades in, introducing the track’s official clip. Directed by Reinaldo Diaz and produced by Juan Diasparra, “Asilo” is a testament to Venezuela’s beauty and rawness. Jerry Di’s mission with the video is clear, and that is: show the world what Venezuela truly is, outside of the political turmoil it’s endured for many years. Through thoughtfully curated cuts shot over the course of 33 days that perfectly capture the country’s scenery and the Venezuelan people enjoying everyday activity, “Asilo” is the country’s heart and soul.

“Many will think when listening to it that it is written for a woman or a past relationship, like most of my songs, but in reality I wrote it for my Venezuela. ASILO’, is the perfect ending to this five-volume journey with which I wanted to highlight the five stages of migratory grief that one goes through when leaving home: Denial, Anger, Negotiation, Depression and Acceptance. I consider that this song together with the video is the perfect finale that enhances this journey where I returned to my roots while singing to my country. A journey where I lost myself, fell, cried, fought, but where I also came back, forgave and understood that all Venezuelans pass the test in a legendary way. ASILO represents the healing of a part of me and now I am ready for all that is to come,” expressed Jerry Di.

“Asilo” comes just a few weeks after Jerry Di’s first ever Latin GRAMMY® nomination. The artist was recognized in the “Song of the Year” category for his participation in the hit “Caracas En El 2000” alongside fellow Venezuelan colleagues Elena Rose and Danny Ocean. The 25th Latin GRAMMY® Awards will take place on Thursday, November 14th, live from the Kaseya Center in Miami, FL, and will be broadcasted through Univision.

Jerry Di continues to celebrate a trailblazing year as he steps into the spotlight, unveiling the depths of his artistry with every release. As part of his ongoing ‘ASILO COLLECTIONS’ project, his latest hit “Billetes de 1K” marked the culmination of its fourth edition ‘ASILO COLLECTIONS: VOL IV – DEPRESIÓN’, which also features “Si Supieras” and “Obra de Arte.”

Through ‘ASILO COLLECTIONS,’ Jerry Di has steadily revealed an introspective journey in which he reflects on the trials and tribulations he encountered a few years ago in his own migratory journey – a psychological battle as he mourned departing from Venezuela. With the multi-track project, Jerry seeks to raise awareness for all migrants, lifting the veil on the reality of what it’s truly like to live through migration hardship. ‘ASILO COLLECTIONS’ is a testament to Jerry Di’s fearless artistry, all while spreading a beautiful message – shedding light on immigration matters, a subject not many individuals are willing to open up about.
