Following the release of his critically acclaimed sophomore album ‘Timelezz‘ in September, Jhay Cortez has been on a run of electric performances in support of the project, culminating in a record-breaking series of three sold-out nights at the iconic Coliseo de Puerto Rico this past weekend. Across two stages, multiple outfit changes and a dozen dancers, Jhay brought an entirely new live experience to the 46,000+ people in attendance across the three shows, performing songs from ‘Timelezz’ like the standout hit “Esta Dejá“ and his wider discography. The shows included surprise guests like Mia Khalifa, who joined him on stage to recreate scenes from the “En Mi Cuarto“ video, along with performances from Wisin, Arcángel, Jhay wheeler, Sech and Bad Bunny, who joined the artist to perform their worldwide hit “Dákiti.” Universal Music also marked the momentous occasion by presenting Jhay with a plaque during the show for his now RIAA-certified platinum album ‘Timelezz.’
“Thank you for being part of these historic nights,” Jhay said expressing his gratitude for continued support from his fans. “Puerto Rico, it feels good to be part of the new generation of Puerto Rican artists. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
In addition to the stellar performances, it was also just announced that Jhay will take the stage for headlining performances at Lollapalooza Argentina and Asuncionico in Paraguay. The latin phenom is currently nominated for three Latin Grammy Awards for Best Urban Song, “Agua” and “Dákiti,” and Song Of The Year “Agua” as well as a couple of American Music Awards in the Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Latin Song categories, respectively.
Jhay’s sophomore album ‘Timelezz’ was released to widespread acclaim and extraordinary support. Peaking at #2 on the Billboard Latin Charts upon its release, ‘Timelezz’ spent weeks on the Billboard charts. Also, ‘Timelezz’ peaked at #9 on the iTunes US Top Albums All Genres chart and hit #1 on the Latin chart with three songs from the project also landing at the top three spots on iTunes’ Top 25 San Juan. The project sees Jhay building on the foundation he set with his debut album ‘Famouz’ in 2019 and bringing new collaborators into the fold like Anuel AA on the standout track “Ley Seca,” alongside the likes of Buscabulla, Arcangel, Kendo Kaponi, Skrillex, & Myke Towers. ‘Timelezz’ features previously released chart-topping singles like the now RIAA-certified Double Platinum “Christian Dior,” “Los Bo“ with Myke Towerz, “En Mi Cuarto“ with Skrillex, and “Kobe En LA,” which are all certified Gold, along with the recently shared track “Nos Matamos“ and his 2020 single “Kobe En LA 2.0.”
Timelezz’ saw 14 of the tracks charting around the globe on Spotify in its first week. The song “Ley Seca” debuted on Spotify’s Top 200 Global Chart (currently #108) and following the premiere of the video on Youtube, the song was trending around the world as the most watched video in Chile, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Puerto Rico and in the top five most watched videos in Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru.
