KISSIN’ TEEF RELEASES DEBUT EP ‘IMPATIENTLY WAITING’ OUT NOW
South-London born and bred, kissin’ teef, releases their brand new single GQ, in celebration of their debut EP, also out now.
kissin’ teef is the musical project from the multi-hyphenate artist Kai Isaiah-Jamal. Their music is a nod to the early 2000’s hayday of London grime, rap and UK funky house that their formative teenage years were soundscaped by. More than personal storytelling, their music is a communal offering as they take inspiration from the lives, voices and experiences that raised them.
kissin’ teef’s GQ channels their roots in poetry into a song that unfolds like a free-flowing confession. The song sees the South Londoner navigate the messy, nuanced weight of love from vulnerability to quiet acts of devotion.
Written by kissin’ teef, with production from Proton and Daveyoh, Impatiently Waiting is a prelude of what’s to come from the lyricist. Across three tracks, kissin’ teef crafts a nostalgic soundscape exploring community, Black British culture, growing pains and love. kissin’ teef on Impatiently Waiting: “I had such a yearning to revisit childhood again with all the information I now have as an adult, to try to fall back into the naivety, fearlessness and freedom there is in this chapter of my life and bring the listeners on this journey. The music isn’t about me telling my story, it’s about me telling the web of stories that influence one another and tether us to each other.”
