KOREAN SUPERSTAR G-DRAGON PARTNERS WITH EMPIRE + SHARES NEW SINGLE “POWER” !!

Global Korean superstar and multi-hyphenate, G-Dragon and Galaxy Corporation has partnered with leading independent record label EMPIRE. G-Dragon makes his long awaited return with a brand new single and music video “POWER” – a high energy, infectious K-pop record with his undeniable vocals cutting through the track. “POWER” was co-written by Tommy “TB Hits” Brown, Theron Thomas, Steven Franks, and G-Dragon, and marks his first solo record since 2017’s self-titled EP KWON JI YONG. That EP topped the Billboard World Albums chart and Japan’s Oricon digital chart – making him the first Korean artist to do so.

“‘POWER’ manifests the essence of music,” says G-Dragon. “I express myself through music.  This marks the beginning of a new era and I hope to inspire people who listen to my music.”

“G-Dragon is a cultural force that has laid the foundation for K-Pop’s global dominance,” says Ghazi Founder/CEO of EMPIRE. “This partnership reinforces our mission at EMPIRE to work alongside artists that will shape the future of global music.”

G-Dragon, born Kwon Ji-Yong, hails from Seoul, South Korea and has been a prominent figure in the global music and K-Pop since the age of 13. In 2009, he shared his debut solo album, Heartbreaker, which topped Korea’s Gaon chart. A few years later his debut solo EP, One of a Kind, topped the Billboard World Albums chart led by “THAT XX” and “CRAYON”. He immediately followed with sophomore album COUP D’ETAT which topped Korea’s Gaon Chart yet again.

Early on, G-Dragon signed to YG Entertainment and joined the popular boy band BIGBANG. 2008’s Remember album from the group also topped Korea’s Gaon chart, while most of the releases in Japan were certified Gold. After years of success and global recognition as the creators of mainstream K-pop, the band split to make solo music and start new endeavors. However, in 2018 they shared “FLOWER ROAD” – the first record in years to feature all members on the track for old times’ sake.

G-Dragon has over 2 billion career streams and musically worked with the likes of Diplo, Baauer, Missy Elliott, Boys Noize, Sky Ferreira, Taeyang, and Skrillex. He’s won World’s Best Album at the 2014 World Music Awards and has been on magazine covers and pages of Elle Korea, Harper’s Bazaar Korea, Vogue Korea, Hypebeast, and more. G-Dragon has since forayed into fashion with his own coveted streetwear apparel brand called PEACEMINUSONE, shot for campaigns with Chanel, Nike, and BMW, and named to the Business of Fashion 500 list. G-Dragon also expanded into art, having been named to ArtNet’s Top 200 Art Collectors list in 2019 and he was a part of Frieze Seoul’s Now & Next artist series last year. This year, he is creating a perfume in collaboration with French perfumer Frédéric Malle, and launched JUSPEACE which is a charity foundation to combat drug abuse in South Korea.

Stay tuned for more to come as he’s set to embark on more live shows across the world and perform at the MAMA Awards for the first time in 9 years on November 23 in Japan.
