Laufey Down Under – ‘An Evening With Laufey’ at Howler Melbourne

LA-based, singer, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Laufey, (pronounced lāy-vāy), excitedly made her Australian debut last week with sold out shows in both Sydney and Melbourne.
June 9th -Her Friday night show, ‘An Evening with Laufey’ had the theatre at Howler Brunswick, in Melbourne, filled with the vibrant energy and eagerness of Laufey’s musically attuned and supportive fans.

The 24-year-old Icelandic-Chinese artist uniquely blends a modern-day take of jazz with traditional elements of contemporary pop creating an authentic sound that beautifully harmonizes with her sublime vocals. Her songs explore young love, self-expression and discovery and the challenges of a women in her 20’s navigating the world. Filled with sincerity and passion, the theatre at Howler was no exception to Laufey’s gift of connecting people as, song after song, her fans enthusiastically sung along together in tune. Her bond with her supporters did not go unnoticed, with gentle banter and joy shared as Laufey was showered with thoughtful gifts from her fans such as a hand-painted Magnolia canvas, flowers and a collection of iconic Australian snacks – Tim Tams.

Songs such as ‘Valentine,’ ‘Let You Break My Heart Again,’ ‘Falling Behind,’ ‘James,’ ‘Best Friend,’ and ‘I Wish You Love’ were beautifully played alongside her latest single release ‘From The Start’. At the crowds eager encore request, Laufey also played a soulful rendition of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ on the piano. Fans on the night were also lucky to have two of her new songs played including a snippet of her new single ‘Promise’ that was released June 14th.
