LIVINGSTON UNVEILS NEW SINGLE “SHAPESHIFTER” OUT NOW, ACCOMPANIED BY MUSIC VIDEO
Alt-pop singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist
An extension of this summer’s single “Recognize,” “Shapeshifter” explores the cost of changing yourself to earn someone else’s approval. In the lyrics, Livingston shifts between a series of opposing roles, from hero to bad guy and breaker to fixer, before admitting how much effort it takes to be seen. A chant-like refrain leads to the song’s central question: how far will you go to become what someone wants?
Livingston shares, “‘Shapeshifter’ continues the conversation begun with ‘Recognize. The downside of constant change is you can end up chasing your tail and losing yourself if you’re changing for others.”

“Shapeshifter” follows “Radiostar,” Livingston’s “2000’s pop”-inspired, high energy single released earlier this month, and “Recognize,” a deeply personal and anthemic track that has already earned millions of streams. Earlier this year, he kicked off a new musical chapter with “Paper Crowns,” his first new music following the breakout run of his debut album, A Hometown Odyssey, and its deluxe edition, A Hometown Odyssey (The Story Continues). The project lead to a landmark year, including headline tours across North America, Europe, and the U.K., with more than 50,000 tickets sold.
Written and produced by Livingston in his childhood bedroom, A Hometown Odyssey has amassed more than 1 billion global streams. The album reached #2 on the Spotify Album Debut U.K. Chart and #3 on the Spotify Album Debut U.S. and Global Charts. “Last Man Standing” appeared on Spotify’s Viral 50 Charts across the U.S., U.K., Sweden, Denmark, and Australia, while breakout single “Shadow” reached #1 on the iTunes Global Songs chart and cracked the Top 20 on Spotify’s U.S. and Global Viral Charts. The album’s “Introduction” also featured Academy® Award winner J.K. Simmons.
