Massachusetts Teamsters to Lobby for Worker Protection Package on Beacon Hill
Teamsters from across Massachusetts will testify at the state house tomorrow to demand lawmakers enact two critical bills that will improve workplace safety.
H.2103/S.1307 will protect warehouse workers from unreasonable production quotas and H. 3995/S.1355 will protect workers from exposure to extreme temperatures.
The hearing is in the Massachusetts General Court’s Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development. Testimony will be immediately followed by a question-and-answer session with members of the committee and a worker delegation.
Teamsters are pushing for similar legislation across the country to enact the Worker Protection Package, a series of state-level bills that protect employee safety, union jobs, and workplace democracy. California, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, and Washington have passed Teamsters-supported legislation to protect warehouse workers from unsafe production quotas. California, Colorado, Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington have Teamsters-backed occupational standards for extreme temperature exposure.
