MATT MALTESE SHARES NEW VERSION OF “CURE FOR EMPTINESS” FEATURING BELLO

Singer-songwriter Matt Maltese is pleased to share a brand-new version of his song “Cure for Emptiness” with a guest feature from Bello. The track first appeared on his sixth studio album Hers, released in May via The Orchard, and is a raw and delicate piano ballad described by Matt as “a song about searching and never finding, and those small moments where you feel and see everything”.

Matt says, “I’ve been making music with Bello for about a year now. It’s been a privilege getting to know them and I’m very honoured to have them sing on this song with me.”

The new release arrives almost halfway through Maltese’s headline tour of North America, which includes stops at iconic venues including Chicago’s Riviera Theatre and Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, before the tour continues for seven nights through the UK in November, culminating at London’s Roundhouse for his biggest hometown show to date. The tour then continues on through Europe this December, taking in a total of 46 shows. See below for the full list of live dates and find tickets here.

Hers arrived as Maltese’s most insular and intimate project to date, and his first fully self-produced effort since his second album Krystal. Maltese has long drawn from the tried and tested artistic wellspring of romance and heartbreak, but the songs that make up Hers find him reflecting upon a serious long-term relationship and the more grown-up complexities of love through the rearview, with the quiet artfulness for which he has become so beloved. Hers exists in a twilight world, pairing heartfelt songwriting and dry witticism with the gentle quiver of strings, a flourish of woodwind or the sound of a creaking old piano.
