Italian superstar NADA, who had her first number 1 hit at the age of 15 in 1968 and many more throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, going on to be a major pop star in Italy and beyond, releases her new album NITRITO on May 9th.‘Nitrito’ is NADA’s fourth collaboration with John Parish with whom she first worked in 2004. Since then she has enjoyed a true renaissance and is rightly considered a peer of artists such as Marianne Faithful, PJ Harvey and Françoise Hardy.  Watch the stunning new video for ‘Bella Piu Bella’, featuring images of the inspirational women named below.

The album was recorded in Bristol with UK musicians and produced once again by John Parish, the man behind some of the best records from PJ Harvey, Eels, Giant Sand and Tracy Chapman to name but a few. Parish, who continues his 20-year collaboration with Nada which began in 2004 on ‘Tutto l’amore Che Mi Manca’, and has continued with ‘È Un Momento Difficile Amore’ (2019) and “La Paura Va Via Da Sé Se I Pensieri Brillano” (2022), creates a sound that is in perfect harmony with Nada’s poetic, honest lyrics and unique emotional voice.

Nada has been making music for almost 50 years and had her first number 1 single in Italy when she was just fifteen years old, enjoying great success singing other people’s songs. She made her live début at the age of fifteen, at the legendary Sanremo Music festival in 1969 and was catapulted to stardom in her native Italy with the song, ‘Ma Che Freddo Fa’. In 1971, she won the Sanremo Music Festival gaining notable international success and returned again in 1972, 1987, 1999 and lastly in 2007.  She had several Number 1 hits in the ‘80s too, the biggest  ‘Amore Disperato’ which was also a hit in Switzerland, France, Spain and Latin America.

In 2004 Nada embarked on a new, and artistically rewarding, musical journey with the release of her new album ‘Tutto l’amore che mi manca’. Featuring original songs, words and music, written by Nada, the album was produced by longtime PJ Harvey collaborator, and revered artist in his own right, John Parish. The album which featured a duet with acclaimed US artist Howard Gelb and showed a completely new side to this great Italian star, was voted “Best Independent Album Of The Year” in Italy. Nada’s next studio album, ‘Luna in piena’, also won the award for Best Independent Album of 2007 in Italy.

In 2016, Nada’s single ‘Senza un perché’ was featured on the HBO series The Young Pope, directed by the brilliant award-winning Paolo Sorrentino.
