Fresh from the buzz of her debut single, rising pop star Nadia Loren returns today with her huge new track ‘Sad But True’, out now via VLF Records. The release arrives with a stunning new video directed by Relta.

A soaring heartbreak anthem wrapped in Nadia’s trademark blend of cinematic storytelling and with euphoric pop production from Mura Masa, ‘Sad But True’ captures the addictive push-pull of a relationship that refuses to fade. Across lyrics as intimate as they are devastating, Nadia wrestles with love, obsession and letting go.

Speaking on the track, Nadia shares: “Sad but true is about trying to get over an ex after a breakup— I wanted to write about my experiences with wanting so badly not to want someone but being burdened with this all encompassing feeling of wanting them. It’s dramatic and frustrating, I wanted to describe the feeling you get when you get out a relationship but still feel so many aspects of it lingering in your life. It’s such a fun song, but also very emotional, I really wanted it to capture that frustration you have with yourself when you’re trying to not feel whatever you’re feeling for another person”

The new track lands in a week stacked with exciting Nadia news: she’ll play her headline London show tomorrow at The Grace, before hitting the road in support of Chloe Qisha for her UK/EU tour. With momentum building fast, ‘Sad But True’ is the next step in what promises to be a defining breakout year.

‘Sad But True’ follows Nadia’s breakout debut ‘It’s Whatever’, which saw the 18-year-old Kent-born, London-based artist hailed as one of the UK’s brightest new voices. After organically fostering a reverent online following – which led to her selling out her debut London headline show in just four minutes – Nadia draws inspirations from the world-building songwriting of the likes of Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey and Lorde. Raised in Rochester and surrounded by her parent’s eclectic record collection, featuring everything from Bowie, The Velvet Underground to the Britpop classics, Nadia combined these influences with her love of film, poetry and the local gig circuit to shape her own unique sound: a blend of ‘happy/sad pop’ that’s as suited for late night drives and bedroom reflections as it is for dance floors.
