Roadrunner hosted 2800 fans plus pop punk favorites New Found Glory on their 20 year anniversary tour of Catalyst with the opening support of Chicago’s Sincere Engineer. This two floored Boston venue was at around 80% capacity as they were taken back to 2004 to the music that New Found Glory wanted to be writing so the excitement from the crowd and bands was limitless.
Sincere Engineer was New Found Glory’s only support of the night and they made sure to fill their role. Vocalist Deanna Belos lyrics are blunt and focus on a lot of real life problems we face everyday. Their song “Overbite” touches on not being everything you could be because of someone else and not being able to live up to life’s expectations. Belos lyrics took the crowd by storm and the emotion could be felt from the front row to the balcony. Belos spoke on how she listened to New Found Glory growing up and how it was a dream and honor to be their direct support. After an eleven song set including “Corn Dog Sonnet No. 7” and “Fireplace” they went on to finish with everyone’s favorite “Trust Me”.

As fans still continued to arrive, “The Boys are Back in Town” played on the speakers as the five piece took the stage. Following their “Intro” they went right into “It’s All Downhill From Here” which was originally written in a day from when lead guitarist Chad Gilbert got the riff in his head while driving and went with it. Causing the crowdsurfing to break out giving the security staff a workout while keeping everyone safe. The band continued through the entirety of Catalyst, every member running across the stage, while purple and blue lights danced along with the crowd. After going through the 14 song album New Found Glory finished with “Who Am I” leaving the crowd begging and cheering for more which could be heard streets away in the city of Boston.
