New Kids On The Blocks’ The Magic Summer Tour: A Nostalgic Night of Pop and Hip-Hop at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage

The Magic Summer Tour Illuminated Budweiser Stage this past Saturday. Headlined by New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) featuring Paula Abdul, and DJ Jazzy Jeff on the lineup. Right at Doors open you could see lines out across the bridge. You could see fans rocking NKOTB merch from the first Magic Summer tour from way back in the 90s.  

The Fresh Prince DJ Jazzy Jeff kicked off the evening, he brought his signature blend of classic hip-hop and turntable wizardry. The crowd started grooving throughout his set as he played iconic tracks such as “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, “Summertime” and “For the Love of the Game”. The DJ’s mix with the engaging stage presence of his hype man set a lively tone for the evening, warming up the crown for the acts follow.

Paula Abdul then came out the gates swinging with a performance that was nothing short of spectacular. The pop diva’s set was a whirlwind of hits, including classics like “Straight Up,” “Cold Hearted,” and “Rush Rush.” Abdul’s set was a whirlwind of dynamic dance sequences and elaborate wardrobe changes. To transition seamlessly from outfit to outfit her back up dancers could be seen bringing clothing racks on stage for Paula. Her choreography, as always, was sharp and engaging, highlighting her reputation as one of the best performers of her era.

From the moment New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) stepped on stage the reaction from the fans was deafening as screams erupted from the crowd. Opening with songs from their newest album “Still Kids”. The set list had something for new and old fans alike. Of course, they performed their biggest hits like “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” and “Step by Step”. The band’s chemistry was evident as they performed with the same enthusiasm and energy that made them a phenomenon decades ago. Some highlights were when they brough some fans on stage with them the interactions made a very wholesome performance.

The Magic Summer Tour was a triumph, offering fans a nostalgic celebration of pop and hip hop. Each performer brought their unique flair, ensuring a night filled with memorable moments and infectious energy.
