NIKO MOON SHARES NEW SONG “AMERICAN DREAMIN’” A REFLECTIVE NEW TRACK ROOTED IN FAMILY, HARD WORK AND HOPE

Niko Moon, Entertainment News, Singer, Songwriter, EMPIRE

Multi-platinum country artist and songwriter Niko Moon releases his reflective new song “AMERICAN DREAMIN’”, the latest and last song to be released before his forthcoming album ROOTS, is released July 17th via EMPIRE. Premiered earlier this week by Holler, who called the track “AMERICAN DREAMIN’” looks back on the family, hard work, resilience and optimism that shaped Moon’s life and the deeply personal new chapter he is sharing on ROOTS.

Built on swampy country textures, Moon’s staccato hip-hop delivery and the genre-blending instincts that have defined the ROOTS era, “AMERICAN DREAMIN’” tells the story of his childhood with honesty and gratitude. Moon grew up moving often with his family, from trailers to extended-stay motels before eventually settling into a house when he was in high school. His father drove trucks, his mother waited tables after having Moon at just 18 years old, and through every lean season, they gave him his first example of what choosing hope in the face of adversity could look like.

“My parents were the first example of what positivity looked like to me,” Moon says. “It’s easy to be positive when life is going smooth, but when you’re facing adversity and still choose optimism, that makes a mark on a kid. And it did for me. ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’’ is a song about my life.”

While Moon has built a career around feel-good country, from his triple-platinum breakout hit “GOOD TIME” to songs written for artists including Zac Brown Band and Dierks Bentley“AMERICAN DREAMIN’” pulls back the curtain on where that outlook came from. It is not positivity without struggle, but positivity because of it. The song helps ground the larger story of ROOTS, an album that finds Moon returning to his beginnings in Douglasville, Georgia and tracing the road from childhood hardship to the life he has built today as a husband, father, artist and advocate for mental health.

Holler gave the track it’s first look earlier this week and said of Moon and the ROOTS project: “…it’s felt as though Moon is creating music with a focus on the listener, crafting songs designed to heal, uplift and comfort fans. Across ROOTS, the intention is still the same, but Moon has shifted the emphasis onto himself, sharing his own story in more depth than ever before. In doing so, although it might sound counterintuitive, he creates his most rewarding, moving and resonant listening experience to date”.

The follow-up to Moon’s 2025 project AMERICAN PALMROOTS trades beachside escapism for something deeper, more grounded and more reflective. Across 15 tracks, Moon moves from the tropical world of AMERICAN PALM into the woods and red clay of Georgia, writing about his upbringing, his family, his home state and the positive outlook that became the foundation of his music.

“This album takes place in Georgia. We’re going from the beaches of AMERICAN PALM to the woods on ROOTS. It’s a different aesthetic, but the same mentality: Positivity is the thread that runs through all of my music,” Moon says. “On ROOTS, I intentionally wanted to be as transparent as I can be in who I am, where I’m from, and why exactly I make music. I’ve never really dug into that before and wrote about what made music so important to me.”

“AMERICAN DREAMIN’” follows previously released album tracks “GET COUNTRY,” “RICH MAN” and “GEORGIA (ROOTS),” each revealing a different side of the world Moon is building on ROOTS. “GET COUNTRY” delivers the dirt-on-your-boots celebration, “RICH MAN” reflects on family, love and the true meaning of wealth, while “GEORGIA (ROOTS)” pays tribute to the place that raised him, interpolating the melody of Hoagy Carmichael’s “Georgia on My Mind,” made famous by Ray Charles. Together, the songs show the full emotional range of ROOTS, from reflection to gratitude to release.

For Moon, ROOTS is not simply a look back. It is a reminder that hardship and encouragement can exist in the same story. Outside of music, he continues to extend that message through Happy Cowboy Foundation, a nonprofit co-founded by Moon and his wife Anna dedicated to helping people find affordable or free therapy, as well as his water company Happy Himalayan, which earmarks a percentage of proceeds to Happy Cowboy Foundation.

Recently, Moon joined Bobby Bones to chat about the new album, what fans can expect from the new music, his work with Zac Brown Band and more.

Moon will continue a busy summer on the road with July performances in Madison, IN, Lake Ozark, MO, Hampton, NH, Rhinelander, WI and Minot, ND before bringing ROOTS across the country this fall on his BACK TO MY ROOTS headline tour. Kicking off September 11th in Youngstown, OH, the run will make stops in Chattanooga, TN, Columbus, OH, Detroit, MI, Fort Lauderdale, FL and more.
