P-Lo Recruits East Bay All-Stars Iamsu!, Clyde Carson & Ezale for “BAY BOYZ 4EVER” Music Video
Bringing Bay Area sounds to the mainstream with his bass-boosted party anthems, P-Lo always stands up for his home region. Today, the Pinole, CA native gathers a crew of East Bay legends to turn back the clock, sharing the video for “BAY BOYZ 4EVER,” a highlight from his new album Out The Box. Produced by P-Lo himself, along with Ray Marco and Cal-A, the song lays a bass-heavy foundation to inspire searing performances from three of the East Bay’s favorite emcees: HBK Gang standout Iamsu!, hyphy legend and CEO of The Team Clyde Carson, and cult favorite funkmaster, and P-Lo’s fellow Asian-American rapper, Ezale. The video is a loving tribute to the region, showing off the region’s pristine geography and unparalleled car culture, as Iamsu! and P-Lo rhyme atop a hill overlooking the East Bay, before meeting up with Clyde Carson and Ezale for a classic Oakland sideshow.
“BAY BOYZ 4EVER” is emblematic of the strengths of Out The Box, which blends classic regional sounds with cutting edge production techniques to create a visceral and extremely fun sonic experience. A testament to P-Lo’s exalted status in the West Coast rap scene, the album is home to singles like “Dumblr,” a collaboration with E-40 and Kreayshawn, and recruits Bay Area legends from all generations, including 1 Umbrella, SOB x RBE, and Karri, to help him bring the bass back. Featuring additional appearances from Killer Mike, Sadboi, Bobby Brackins, and more, is available on all platforms via Everywhere Like Air / EMPIRE.
Out The Box landed as P-Lo rode the wave from his contribution to the year’s biggest hip-hop album, collaborating with “2 Hard 4 The Radio,” a highlight from Iceman. Since emerging as the sonic architect of the East Bay’s HBK Gang in the 2010s, P-Lo has been a force in hip-hop, redefining the West Coast sound without losing his strong focus on uplifting his local community.
