RAMÓN VEGA Releases ‘MONCHI’ Personal and Fearlessly Creative Journey
With his heart on his sleeve and his roots in full view, Ramón Vega unveils his highly anticipated album “Monchi“, a musical journey that weaves together the nostalgia of his childhood with the creative freedom that defines his career today. The launch is highlighted by the focus track “Dueño de Ti,” a powerful collaboration with contemporary Mexican music icon Carin León.
“Monchi“ is more than an album; it’s a declaration of artistic intent spread across 18 tracks. In this new project, Ramón reconnects with the boy who once dreamed of becoming an artist, singing covers in his hometown of Sonora. Today, however, he returns as a fully formed creator who seamlessly moves across genres and emotions with electrifying authenticity.
Each song on the album is a unique piece of a larger sonic puzzle, blending regional Mexican sounds, Mexican rap, Cuban bolero, rock, and soul — a vivid reflection of the immediacy and diversity of influences that shaped Ramón’s artistic evolution.
“I never imagined I’d be able to bring all these artists together on one album,”Ramón admits. “Every collaboration is a dream come true.” Monchi features an impressive roster of guests, including Carin León, Nanpa Básico, Big Soto, Michelle Maciel, and his own brothers Cornelio and Santiago Vega — the pillars of his life and career.
Tracks like “Bandido Roto“ and “M4“ celebrate not only brotherhood but also Ramón’s humble beginnings, recalling the first songs he recorded in makeshift warehouses covered in blankets to mimic recording booths — songs that today are ready to echo through major stages.
The album’s lead single, “Dueño de Ti,” is a bold reimagining of the Sonoran classic made famous by Sergio Vega two decades ago. “More than just a cover, it’s a way of breathing new life into a song that holds deep meaning for our families and for all of Sonora,” Ramón explains. Under the mentorship and creative partnership of Carin León, the song takes on new life, honoring tradition while forging ahead toward the future.
Songs like “Pa Mis Caballos“ pay heartfelt tribute to “El Shaka,” Ramón’sgodfather and a fundamental figure in his personal and professional path. Meanwhile, his cover of “Mariposa Traicionera“ ties together his family history with the influence of Maná, whose spirit of artistic freedom permeates the entire album. Finally, tracks like “El Diablo,” with its electric guitar flourishes, reaffirm Ramón’smission to break free from conventions and blaze his own trail.
