RISING ARTIST MEHRO UNVEILS NEW ALBUM WEIRDTHROB
Rising artist mehro unveils their new album weirdthrob. Consisting of 9 tracks, the project channels raw emotion through layers of distortion, heightened tension and a visceral, unfiltered approach to songwriting and production. The album pushes discomfort to the surface, using abrasive textures and volume not just as aesthetics, but as emotional tools.
“I was thinking about the people whose hearts I admire so much,” mehro recalls. “Weirdthrob really describes how I feel about myself. It just resonated with me as somebody who’s always felt like a phony, insecure, or unworthy of things. Seeing people be so strange and yet so beloved was something I always resonated with.”
Fans can also watch videos for the previously released album tracks “sepia tones”, “you’re so pretty” and “lady parts and mannequins”, respectively. Fresh off a headline set at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom, mehro continues to take their lauded live show on the road for an extensive run of worldwide dates. The weirdthrob world tour features additional North American dates at New York’s Racket, DC’s DC9 Nightclub, Chicago’s Lincoln Hall, Atlanta’s The Masquerade and more. Enveloped in music from childhood, mehro initially resisted a career as a musician. That changed when the then-teenager watched the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line. Inspired, they picked up a guitar that night and began learning “Folsom Prison Blues,” eventually beginning to write their own music. Since arriving with their debut single “perfume” in 2020, the singer-songwriter immediately caused ripples. The stripped-back love song has since garnered more than 80 million streams on Spotify while their powerful track “chance with you” has accumulated over 118 million Spotify streams.
Last year, mehro released their thematically raw new record trauma lullabies on their mother’s birthday, which continues to receive praise; PAPER Magazineproclaims, “mehro’s moody melodies linger… [Their] music is confessional and tender, songs that tap into love, despair and everything in between,” while Ones To Watch furthers, “trauma lullabies’ nostalgic yet immediately inviting soundscapes supplement lyrics that take listeners through a layered emotional journey.”
