RISING SOUL ARTIST EJ JONES ANNOUNCES DEBUT EP LUH MO’ LOVE OUT NOVEMBER 13TH VIA QUALITY CONTROL

Memphis-born singer-songwriter EJ Jones announces his debut EP, Luh Mo’ Love, arriving November 13 via Quality Control Music. At 24, EJ draws from the rich vocal tradition of ’70s soul, pairing the warmth and fluid phrasing of Sam Cooke with the rougher, emotionally direct edge of Bobby Womack. A songwriter and instrumentalist who also produced select tracks on the forthcoming project, EJ builds his music around expressive vocals, live instrumentation, and the warmth of Southern soul, R&B, and jazz. Rooted in the musical history of his hometown, Luh Mo’ Love brings these influences into focus through his own perspective and artistry.

In August, EJ released “Need It Bad,” a single that showcases his ability to move between vintage soul textures and contemporary production. The track opens on a mid-tempo analog groove before shifting into an 808-heavy half-time rhythm, with EJ’s vocals growing more urgent as the production evolves. It followed the EP’s title track, “Luh Mo’ Love,” released in June alongside a music video that has surpassed one million views. Built around a call for compassion and unity, the song pairs an uplifting message with melodies that evoke Stevie Wonder’s “Love’s In Need Of Love Today” and Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.”

Jones first reached a wide audience through viral renditions of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do for Love.” His breakout single, “Gas Station Love,” has since surpassed 30 million streams and reached the Top 15 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs, Adult R&B Airplay, and Rhythmic Airplay charts. Since its September 2025 release, Jones has accumulated more than 30 million global streams across his catalog. The song’s video has surpassed 11 million views, while Jones reached No. 3 on Shazam’s Discovery Chart and No. 23 on Shazam’s Top 200. BigXThePlug later joined him for the remix, which has earned more than 5 million Spotify streams.

Jones’ path to Quality Control began with a spontaneous performance of “A Change Is Gonna Come” that went viral and eventually reached label founder and COO Kevin “Coach K” Lee through his barber. The introduction led to Jones signing with the label, setting the stage for a run of industry recognition. Billboard listed him as an R&B Artist to Watch in 2026 and previously selected him as a Freshest Find, praising his “soulful timbre far beyond his years.” Complex included him among its 2026 Artists to Watch, describing his vocals as creating a “head-turning time capsule effect,” while NME named him to its NME 100 and Yams Magazine spotlighted him among the artists bringing soul music back to the forefront. Jones has also been named a Pandora 2026 Artist to Watch and a YouTube Trending Artist on the Rise, with performances on From The Block and The Cadillac Chronicles. Beyond music, his song “Cold Day” appeared in the film Unexpected Christmas. Earlier this spring, he joined the Blues Is Alright Tour, sharing the stage with soul veterans King George, Tucka, and Lenny Williams.

With Luh Mo’ Love Jones moves beyond the covers that first introduced him to audiences and puts his own songwriting and musicianship at the center. Rooted in the soul traditions of his Memphis upbringing, his music carries the emotional weight of an earlier generation while reflecting his own.
