Rod Wave drops a new aspirational video for “Tru Story”

Carrying the weight of his St. Petersburg, FL community on his shoulders, Rod Wave crafts soulful and moving rap bangers. Chronicling his recent rise in the context of his emotional struggles, Rod Wave shares “Tru Story,” his latest video.

Driven by gently-plucked acoustic guitar and fluttering synth strings, Rod walks through his motivations for becoming a successful rapper on “Tru Story,” thanking the Lord for his success, and differentiating himself from his fellow artists with his signature melodics. In the video, Rod posts up in front of his new house, a gorgeous new mansion on a huge plot of land, throwing his cash and riding his ATV, all interspersed with images of Rod performing for sold-out crowds.

“Tru Story” is the latest in a line of loosies from Rod Wave, following February’s “Hard Times,” which has over 758k plays on YouTube, and the music video for  “Popular Loner,” which takes a behind-the-scenes look at Rod’s rise. With music that Moneybagg Yo described as “street gospel,” Rod Wave has an inimitable style using his acrobatic vocal talent to inject lived-in emotion to his songs. He’s one of the fastest growing artist rising out of Florida, pushing an inspiring message along the way.
