AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND TOUR
ALSO ANNOUNCED

ACCLAIMED SECOND ALBUM LAHAI OUT NOW ON YOUNG

London singer, songwriter and producer Sampha will play his biggest show yet on 26 April 2024when he headlines a hometown show at London’s legendary 10,000 capacity Alexandra Palace. Artist presale tickets go on sale at 10am GMT on Wednesday 1st November and on general sale from Friday 3rd November. In addition, Sampha has announced details of an Australia and New Zealand headline tour which will take in Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne in February and March next year. Fans should head to https://www.sampha.com/tour to access the presale and for full information on the shows. Fill dates also listed below.

News of the shows follows the success of Sampha’s acclaimed “Satellite Business” shows in London, New York and, most recently, Los Angeles where he was joined on stage by an array of special guests including Kamasi Washington, Kelsey Lu and Maurice II.. In London, Sampha was joined by StormzyNilüfer YanyaObongjayarLéa Sen, and Elmiene while his New York shows were rapturously received by the like of Pitchfork who exclaimed “experiencing his intimate music, dioramas of pain, joy, and understanding, felt like a beautiful hallucination. In that hallowed space, couples could sway and grown men hoot and cry without judgment.”

Sampha’s second album LAHAI was released on 20 October via Young to widespread acclaim. Taken from his paternal grandfather’s name, which is also Sampha’s middle name, LAHAI revels in the awe and magic of our existence, synthesizing the exquisite chaos that one experiences confronting the cycle of life and the beyondness. Spanning 14-tracks, it features contributions from some of Sampha’s closest friends, peers and collaborators including Yaeji, Léa Sen, Sheila Maurice Grey (Kokoroko), Ibeyi, Morgan Simpson (Black Midi), Yussef Dayes, Laura Groves and Kwake Bass. In contrast to his Mercury Prize-winning debut album Process, LAHAI is a communal affair seeing Sampha explore the many ways in which we as humans connect to each other, and to something bigger than ourselves. If Process was an artist figuring out his own place in the world, engulfed in the shadows of grief and loss, LAHAI is an exercise in the radical acceptance and joy in the human condition, and the beauty in the journey itself.

It’s been an exciting few months for Sampha, who returned to the spotlight in June, for the first time in six years, following the global success of Process.  Recently, he made his directorial debut, writing and co-directing LAHAI: Time Travels Memories with filmmaker Caleb Femi. The short film is a dreamlike visual accompaniment to LAHAI, capturing the essence of its journey of spiritual self-exploration, generational discovery and familial connection. Sampha also recently stopped by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge where he recorded a cover of Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habits.” Prior to that he announced his new Apple Music 1 radio series ‘Wave Therapy,’ which is an exclusive window into the making of his new album. He’ll also welcome friends, collaborators and artists he admires onto the show in a mix of live sessions, conversations, back-to-back mixes and genre deep-dives: listen here. He’s recently graced the cover of Office Magazine and Music Week, was profiled in the New York Times and performed “Only” on the German late-night show ZDF Magazin Royale.
