SHYGIRL ANNOUNCES ALIAS is ME

British multidisciplinary artist Shygirl continues ALIAS 5th anniversary celebrations with ALIAS is ME; an EP featuring seven reworks from collaborators and peers including JT, Alex Chapman, Amnesia Scanner, EQ, George Riley, Nick Leon, Sega Bodega, Skuzland and TDJ.  Each track offers a new perspective with brand new vocals and production. 

Shygirl notes: “After 5 years I really wanted to go back to what inspired me the most at that time which was collaborating with artists who inspire me, people who I think are pushing boundaries and being bold sonically”.

ALIAS is ME represents Shygirl’s latest creative endeavour designed to celebrate 5 years of ALIAS following on from her multi-media installation and live performance at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, her collaboration with sexual wellness brand HOWL and the ALIAS 5th Anniversary Skin Box, a hand made silicone covered collectors edition box limited to just 25 copies (now sold out).

Last month, as part of the Because Beaubourg, Shygirl hosted a multi-media installation at the Centre Pompidou which saw her transform the record’s core themes of identity, intimacy, and distortion into a multi-sensory environment. Visitors moved through a series of body-inspired installations that blurred boundaries between anatomy, sound, and memory.

The Shygirl Skin is a multi-purpose silicone fashion accessory: a small yet subversive statement piece that clips onto a belt, bag or thong and carries essentials for the gym, dates, raves and more. It can hold anything from HOWL BB Lube to lipstick, tampons, condoms, earplugs, hormones and more and is designed as an intimate companion for life on the move.

The ALIAS 5th Anniversary Skin Box is a bespoke handmade silicone box crafted to hold and display vinyl and/or any other treasured items and includes such items as the exclusive ALIAS 5th anniversary photo book, a 1 of 1 cyanotype print kerchief and a personalised note from Shygirl.

Released in 2020, ALIAS marked a defining moment in Shygirl’s genre-blurring career.  The project earned widespread praise, with Pitchfork calling it “a glittering light, a portal into the future” and NME describing it in a 4-star review as “a maximalist joyride beamed in from the cyber-rave dancefloors of 2080.”
