SHYGIRL SHARES “PLAYBOY / POSITIONS (OFFICIAL DANCE VISUAL)”

NYMPH WORLD TOUR PT2 SHOWS IN LONDON, GLASGOW, BRIGHTON AND BRISTOL STARTING ON DECEMBER 2ND

Shygirl shares a new “Playboy / Positions (Official Dance Visual)” off the deluxe edition of her praised debut album Nymph, titled Nymph_o via Because Music. The new visual conceptualized and choreographed by Gigi Todisco and directed by Mitch deQuilettes focuses on the bodily movement of the dancers and is shot in a barren basement accompanied by pared-back camera shots. Speaking on the video Gigi shares, “As a queer woman in the industry, I never quite felt like I fit into the brand of ‘sexy’ that I was seeing. I wanted to use both my background in contemporary concert dance and commercial dance to find new ways to portray and feel sensuality through movement. Shygirl is constantly pushing the boundaries of genre and that’s why I’ve connected deeply with her music. Her music feels like a playground for me to research these ideas choreographically.”

The new video comes just ahead of Shygirl and Tinashe’s co-headlining North American tour. Kicking off in Chicago on October 28th the duo will make their way through major cities in the United States including New York, Atlanta, DC before wrapping in New Jersey. Shygirl’s Nymph World Tour Part 2 starts on December 2nd at London’s Drumsheds before the musician makes her way through the UK with stops in Glasgow and Bristol before finishing up in Brighton on December 6th.The forthcoming dates follow Shygirl’s opening set for Beyonce in London and the release of Nymph_o earlier this year, which includes a collaboration with Tinashe on a new rendition of “Heaven.” Nymph_o also features Björk, Arca, Erika de Casier, Eartheater, Fatima Al Qadiri, and more.

Shygirl’s debut album, Nymph, was praised for its intimacy and emotional depth. The album included the tracks “Shlut,” “Nike,” “Coochie (a bedtime story),” “Come For Me,” and “Firefly,” all of which showcased Shygirl’s innovative approach. Pitchfork called it “a definitive collection of songs that builds upon what already makes the artist remarkable.” Nymph reached #2 on the Current Electronic Albums chart and #1 on the NACC Electronic Top 200 chart.
