Single Review: NiiKo releases new single ‘Perfect Timing,’ which has been in the vaults since the start of his music journey

On his latest single ‘Perfect Timing’ – which is the follow-up to the widely acclaimed hit ‘Figures’ – New York rap artist NiiKo takes listeners right back to the start of his music journey, reminding audiences of just what made him so raw, exciting, and propulsive.

New York up-and-comer NiiKo has dropped his most recent single, ‘Perfect Timing,’ as he continues to be one of the most surprising artists in the drill-rap niche.

Born Ryan Francesco DiMartino, NiiKo’s emergence into the music industry came about through unlikely circumstances. The 29-year-old admits that he went from an “old-school Italian upbringing” and chose the path of athleticism when he was younger. With only a passing interest in music, he was setting himself up to be a professional baseballer, which helped in no small part because he also received a scholarship to play in Florida fresh out of high school.

His plan was dashed almost overnight when DiMartino tore his UCL, bringing his dreams to an abrupt end. His post-college life was marred by “ups and downs,” including getting involved with the wrong crowds, flirting with drugs and alcohol, and numbing his mind with menial jobs.
