Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien, Mayor Zohran Mamdani to Hold Press Conference on Delivery Protection Act

Labor Groups, Elected Officials Demand Vote on Delivery Reform Bill in New York

Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will join hundreds of Amazon Teamsters and elected officials for a press conference on Thursday, October 22, to urge Council Speaker Julie Menin to schedule a vote on the Delivery Protection Act.

The Delivery Protection Act, introduced by Councilwoman Tiffany Cabán and supported by a supermajority of City Council, would require delivery companies like Amazon to license their facilities with the city and directly hire its workforce, making subcontracted deliveries illegal.

Amazon’s corrupt third-party subcontracting model — referred to as Delivery Service Partners — exploits workers, endangers communities, and shields Amazon from the liability of direct employment. With the support of Mayor Mamdani, Teamsters are demanding timely passage of this critical legislation.
