The Here And NowOof Izye’s Hip-Hop

​izye pours herself into her music. Hers is a distinctive approach. She grew up with a musical theatre background, partly explaining how she draws listeners into her phenomenal aural universe. Taking inspiration from her environment in the San Francisco East Bay Area, she captures that initial passion she felt for her earlier career in her music. 

To the well-listened ear, one can hear glimmers of Tinashe, JoJo, SZA, and Kehlani in her style. She may use these as reference points, but her sound is entirely hers. She had always been interested in music in some capacity, but only after turning 17 did she start to take it seriously. She took her music and made it in her bedroom. From these humble origins, she moved to Los Angeles to take that studio production to the next level. After a year in Los Angeles, she dropped out of school and pursued her dream full-time. She met her producer KundoCrankin’, while working her day job, and from there, she started putting out manymore tracks. Her genre-blending, taking the best bits from R&B and hyphy Hip-Hop, make for an unusual journey. The subject matter she brings to the forefront also gives her verses and vocal delivery that extra level of thoughtfulness that feels fully realized. 

Done with this sense of pure geometry, one can feel the pure poignancy of izye within every missive that comes out of her mind.
