The Ophelias Announce North American Tour Supporting Ezra Furman
The Ophelias announce a North American tour supporting Ezra Furman. The band recently released their new album, Spring Grove, via Get Better Records, to much fanfare. It was widely praised, earning glowing recognition from publications like The New York Times, NPR Music, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, and Uproxx. Throughout, frontwoman Spencer Peppet “traverse[s] everyday emotions from alternate perspectives, but with such attention to detail that they end up feeling strikingly familiar” (Consequence). She writes about the nuances of friendships, the multifaceted nature of people, her own OCD diagnosis, and vivid dreams. Her emotive vocals work in tandem as she sighs, belts, and gasps from one song to the next. It’s all backed by gorgeous, orchestral indie rock, which drives the cathartic nature of their live set.
The Ophelias will kick off a short headline run this weekend with an appearance at Stoopfest in Lansing, MI. Then, they’ll play New York’s Baby’s All Right on May 27th to benefit the Immigrant Defense Project. Following, they’ll begin their tour with Ezra Furman at Chicago’s Thalia Hall on July 8th.
