THE SMITH STREET BAND RELEASE EXCLUSIVE LIVE ALBUM TO RAISE MUCH NEEDED FUNDS FOR CREW MEMBERS

unnamed (10)

It’s a very strange time all around and Coronavirus is impacting many industries, and we are certainly feeling it in the music community. With most tours, events and festivals cancelled leaving many of our hardest working, behind the scenes, sound engineers, guitar techs and roadies out of work with an uncertainty of when gigs will resume.

The Smith Street Band, like many other bands and artists around the globe have had their current tour postponed and are releasing an exclusive live recording today on Bandcamp in an effort to raise funds for crew members now out of work. With the legends at Bandcamp offering no fees on sales from 6pm Melbourne time today, Friday March 20th it’s the perfect time to donate if you can.

The Smith Street Band Live At The Triffid is the band’s first ever live release, recorded on the second night of two sold out shows at one of Brisbane’s favourite music venues, The Triffid, in late 2019. The release is only available on Bandcamp, for stream or download. The live album contains new single ‘Big Smoke’ which was recently added to triple j and new songs ‘I Still Dream About You’ which will appear on the band’s forthcoming new album Don’t Waste Your Anger.

The Smith Street Band’s lead singer Wil Wagner states of the release “We’re releasing a full live album we recorded at our recent Brisbane show at The Triffid over on Bandcamp! It’s a $10 download and we’re gonna use the money to pay our crew for the work they are missing out on because of Coronavirus. We know this is a hard time for everyone and that none of our pockets are that deep at the moment, but if you have $10 to spare and wanna hear some rocking tunes your purchase would mean a lot to everyone who helps this band exist! We’re also working on a few other ways we can keep making music and sharing it with all of you during this scary time. We’ll keep you posted about that!”
