TIACORINE RELEASES MAJOR LABEL DEBUT EP ALMOST THERE
Quickly emerging North Carolina superstar TiaCorine announces the release of her major label debut EP, Almost There via Interscope Records. The eight-song set includes “Yung Joc,” her recently released collaboration with Luh Tyler and the propulsive “Bonnet.” Along with the EP, she releases the visuals for the latter track. Across those hits and a half-dozen unmissable new cuts, the rising rapper distinguishes herself as one of the most versatile and exciting artists to watch.
Fans and critics who have followed Tia’s remarkable rise are well aware of her ability to adapt to different tempos and sound palettes. But on Almost There, she flexes her muscles as a collaborator, too: see the way, on “Blick,” she goes blow for blow with Key Glock, a fixture in Memphis’s bass-obsessed club scene, or the way she launches into orbit with the celebrated Detroit eccentric Zelooperz on “Olive.”
Yet there’s no mistaking who the headliner is. The poise and verve that Tia shows on current single “Bonnet” are nearly superhuman: “I think you forgot that I got your location,” she quips, the latent thread lurking just underneath the line’s playfulness. “And I’ma turn up, I don’t need no occasion.” Despite the hairpin turns in production and Tia’s own willingness to leap from one topic to another without hesitation, she is always exerting total control.
