WALLIE THE SENSEI SHARES NEW SINGLE “BEAM” (FEAT. RODDY RICCH)
Following the release of “Dip” (feat. Ty Dolla $ign & Blxst), Compton-born artist and Travis Scott / Cactus Jack‘s newest signee Wallie the Sensei has just released his new single “Beam” (feat. Roddy Ricch) –– out now, along with an accompanying music video. Produced by legendary West Coast producer Low the Great, “Beam” is a link-up between Wallie the Sensei and one of his earliest influences in Roddy Ricch, with the 808-laced, piano-heavy track fusing the two Compton artists sounds together seamlessly, overlaying Wallie the Sensei‘s smooth, melodic delivery with Roddy Ricch‘s signature Trap-Soul cadence. “Beam” serves as the second collaboration from the duo and first on their own, following last year’s “dodger blue” (300M+ Streams), the West Coast anthem off of Kendrick Lamar‘s now GRAMMY-nominated project GNX. The accompanying music video for the new track “Beam”, directed by acclaimed director Salty (whose past credits include Snoop Dogg, Sexyy Red, OHGEESY), is a moody, high-production visual and another chapter in the ever-expanding visual world that Wallie the Sensei is building to compliment his unique R&B-influenced sound. “Beam” also serves as Wallie the Sensei‘s second single of the year, as he continues to tease his forthcoming Cactus Jack debut album –– a project that will look to stamp Wallie the Sensei‘s transition from an emerging regional presence to a nationally-recognized artist positioned to bring the new West Coast sound that he’s pioneered, to the masses.
After releasing his debut album GOLDEN CHILD in 2021 and its 2022 follow-up HERE 2 STAY, Wallie the Sensei attracted the attention of hometown hero Kendrick Lamar, who invited him into studio sessions, eventually landing as a feature on “dodger blue” off 2024’s 2x RIAA Platinum-certified project GNX. That feature set the stage for an even bigger milestone in 2025, when Travis Scott officially signed Wallie the Sensei to Cactus Jack Records and included him on the JACKBOYS 2 compilation, where he appears on standout tracks “CANT STOP” (27M+ Streams) alongside Don Toliver and Future, as well as “110 SOUTH” with close collaborator Luxury Tax 50 on the Deluxe Version. Wallie the Sensei’s decision to relocate to Miami in 2022 marked a new stage of his career, providing him with the space to focus entirely on recording new music. Even as his profile grows nationally, Wallie the Sensei stays deeply connected to Compton, remaining active in his community through initiatives such as Wallie’s Weekend, which offers resources and mentorship to local youth.
