1000 Miglia Collection Days: Take centre stage at the Centenary

1000 Miglia Collection, 1000 Miglia, Cars, Motorsports

There are stories that are not just written in books, but lie quietly in a drawer, in an old picture frame or inside a tin box in the attic. Stories of happy faces lining the roadside, of the roar of engines that make the heart tremble, of the smell of petrol, of drivers in racing suits and of children waiting to catch a glimpse of a red racing car during its passage.

With our sights set on 2027, the year that marks the Centenary of the first legendary edition in 1927, 1000 Miglia is launching the 1000 Miglia Collection Days. A special event, created to rediscover, protect and bring to light the living, shared memory of the Most Beautiful Race in The World transforming those who love it into the true storytellers of a century of passion.

Whether it is an important heirloom or a small object treasured as a lucky charm, every trace tells a little piece of this legend. 1000 Miglia brings together the Brescia community – which has always been the beating heart and cradle of the race – but is extending the invitation to anyone who has encountered the magic of the Red Arrow along their journey. Do you have a black-and-white photograph of your family on the race route at home? A vintage poster, an old notebook with drivers’ autographs, a vintage handkerchief or an amateur film? Or perhaps a weathered helmet, a pair of worn gloves, a memoir or a mechanical part unearthed in the garage? Each of these objects is a vital piece of a unique mosaic.

The project
Conceived and coordinated by 1000 Miglia Srl and developed under the scientific guidance of Professor Elena Pala, a historian affiliated with the University of Milan, the Collection Days journey will receive invaluable support from Editoriale Bresciana, which, through the Group’s media outlets, will give a voice to the protagonists, gathering stories and anecdotes and recounting the project through the pages of the Giornale di Brescia, Teletutto programmes and the broadcasts of Radio Bresciasette. The shared material will form a collective heritage, a great shared memory that will celebrate the human and cultural heritage of the race.

The Collection Days will be held in the Sala Libretti at the Giornale di Brescia editorial offices at 22 Via Solferino. Five afternoons dedicated to listening to, viewing and cataloguing memories:
