Academy Museum Launches Virtual Programming and Academy Awards History Timeline

The Academy Museum’s website will be activated Oscar® weekend with the launch of its virtual programming, in addition to historic and thoughtful content on the Oscars® and Hollywood.

Breaking the Oscars® Ceiling: A conversation hosted by Academy Museum trustee Diane von Furstenberg and moderated by Academy Museum Chief Artistic and Programming Officer Jacqueline Stewart, who will be speaking with four women who have achieved historic Oscars® milestones. Guests include actor Sophia Loren, actor and comedian Whoopi Goldberg, actor Marlee Matlin, and singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie.

Academy Awards® History Timeline: Designed as a preview to the Academy Museum’s Academy Awards® History gallery, this interactive, multimedia timeline offers a curated selection of significant moments on and off stage, and showcases the glamorous and sometimes complicated stories of the Academy Awards®.

Pariah 10th Anniversary | Screening + DiscussionIn celebration of its 10th anniversary, the cast and crew of screenwriter and director Dee Rees’s groundbreaking coming-of-age film Pariah (2011) reunite to discuss their unique journey from script to screen with the museum’s Chief Artistic and Programming Officer Jacqueline Stewart. Rees’s fiction debut is a nuanced portrait of Alike, a Brooklyn teen whose journey of self-discovery brims with humor, poetry, heartbreak, and resilience. Joining Rees are actors Adepero Oduye, Pernell Walker, Aasha Davis, Charles Parnell, and Kim Wayans as well as producer Nekisa Cooper, editor Mako Kamitsuna, production designer Inbal Weinberg, and cinematographer Bradford Young.
