On the evening of Tuesday, September 10th, fans of Sleater-Kinney were in for a special treat at the Grammy Museum at LA Live. The event featured a live Q&A session moderated by Molly Neuman, followed by an impressive musical performance. The show took place in the Clive Davis Theater, a cozy and intimate venue that seats 200 people. The seats were filled with eager fans, all excited to see the iconic duo perform.

During the Q&A session, the band members discussed various topics, including their music, their connection to punk and indie rock, their creative process, and even their pre-show superstitions. When Neuman opened the floor to audience questions, hands shot up from fans eager to ask their pressing inquiries. Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker, the duo behind Sleater-Kinney, were warm and humorous in their responses. The audience included many long-time fans, some of whom have followed the band since their inception in 1994.

One fan asked Brownstein to compare her creative experiences in the band with her work on the comedy show Portlandia. Another fan inquired about how the duo knows when to stop working on a song. Brownstein chuckled and admitted that she often relies on Tucker to be the voice of reason, as she tends to be a perfectionist. She revealed that she can end up creating more than ten different versions of a song and would continue working on it indefinitely if not for Tucker’s intervention.

After the engaging Q&A session, Brownstein and Tucker took to the stage to perform four songs for the crowd. They played “Say It Like You Mean It,” “Don’t Feel Right,” “Modern Girl,” and closed the evening with “Untidy Creature.” The energy and emotion in their voices were palpable as they rocked out, and the fans were clearly enjoying the performance. The crowd was left utterly impressed and applauded graciously as the duo walked off the stage, smiling and waving at the end of their set.
