ARTHUR HANLON & ÁNGELA AGUILAR JOIN FORCES ON “BALA PERDIDA”
Celebrated pianist and composer Arthur Hanlon and Latin music superstar Ángela Aguilar unite for the first time on “Bala Perdida”—a hauntingly beautiful ballad that blends the soul of huapango with the intensity of rock and pop. The song, a tribute to lost love and longing, will be available February 19, with an electrifying live debut set for Premio Lo Nuestro on February 20.
This marks a groundbreaking collaboration between two artists who continue to redefine contemporary Latin music across genres and generations.
“This is a masterful piece, and I’m so proud to be part of it. It’s an homage to the great songs—songs with deep music and lyrics,” says Ángela. “My dad always says there are only two genres: good and bad. And this one is very, very good.”
Arthur, known for his signature ability to blend classical technique with Latin sounds, knew Ángela was the perfect voice for this song the moment he composed it.
“I love playing with contrasts on the piano, and ‘Bala Perdida’ embodies that,”says Arthur. “It’s built on huapango, a Mexican rhythm I admire—it has elegance, soul, and raw emotion. Ángela’s technique is flawless, and from the moment we recorded, the chemistry was undeniable.”
“Bala Perdida” is the third single from Arthur’s upcoming album, an ambitious collection of original collaborations set for release in April.
A Collaboration Born from Musical Chemistry
Arthur and Ángela first connected during Billboard’s Latin Women in Music event in June 2024. Their instant artistic synergy led them to collaborate on “Bala Perdida,” written by Arthur Hanlon, Navi, and Nia Skyfer—a song crafted for a truly exceptional vocalist.
“From the moment I wrote this song, I could only hear it in Ángela’s voice. No one else could bring it to life the way she does,” says Arthur.
A Cinematic Music Video Set in the Desert
The official “Bala Perdida” music video transports viewers to a desolate landscape at dusk, filmed on the outskirts of Houston, Texas. Against the eerie beauty of the setting, Arthur plays his Yamaha grand piano, while Ángela is drawn to the music in a mesmerizing visual journey.
