Atlanta Host Washington in Game 1 of WNBA Semifinals Sunday
Game 1 and Game 2 will be played in Atlanta at McCamish Pavilion
ATLANTA– The Atlanta Dream open the 2018 WNBA Playoffs Sunday against the visiting Washington Mystics inside McCamish Pavilion beginning at 3 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcasted live on EPSN2 with Pam Ward, Kara Lawson and LaChina Robinson on the call.
The second-seeded Dream return to action after securing a double-bye in to the Semifinals. The team closed out the regular season with a franchise-record 23 wins. Tiffany Hayes comes in off the most impressive season of her career, averaging a career-best 17.2 points per game and being named AP First Team All-WNBA. Head Coach Nicki Collen was recently named AP WNBA Coach of the Year for her efforts leading the organization.
Atlanta, which took two-of-three from Washington in the regular season, leads the all-time series, 23-20 and is 4-1 against Washington in the Playoffs.
No. 3 seeded Washington earned its Semifinal spot after blowing out Los Angeles, 96-64, Thursday night. Elena Delle Donne, who scored 20.7 points per game in the regular season, recorded 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the win over the Sparks.
Sunday’s game marks the Dream’s first WNBA Playoff appearance since 2016 and first Playoff series without Angel McCoughtry in franchise history. McCoughtry was sidelined with a season ending injury suffered against Las Vegas on August 7. In McCoughtry’s absence, Atlanta has recorded a 4-1 record. The Dream has been one of the hottest teams in the WNBA, winning 15 of its last 17 games after starting the season 8-9.
This best-of-five series continues Tuesday, August 28 inside McCamish Pavilion at 8 p.m. ET.
