BORNE RELEASES “CAN I” ON NIGHTMODE RECORDS
Boundary-pushing producer borne makes his seventh appearance on NIGHTMODE with his follow-up single, “Can I”. A melange of low-end firepower built from 140, bassline, UK garage, and house, “Can I” is an adrenaline-spiking bassline cut that coalesces the diametric points of his genre-fluid spectrum. Splitting the difference between 140 and house, the track slices through the space with swift drum shuffles, hypeman MC shoutouts add momentum behind the dark, dirty rhythm. Murky, modulated phasers and velvety vocal chops contrast with the booming bassline pulses and piercing, rapidfire shrills, resulting in a well-balanced dancefloor banger poised to bring the house down.
borne released his 5-track ‘Deep End’ EP on the label back in 2023, with subsequent singles like “Hush” and “Silence” pulling in more than 2.25M and 1.35M streams, respectively. His music has been supported in sets by Fred Again, Skrillex, Four Tet, Overmono, Salute, and Chris Lake. He recently sold out his debut headline show in LA, and is about to embark on his 10-date tour supporting Peekaboo (following their massive collab “I Want It”), as well as festival performances at Lighting in a Bottle, Niteharts, The Untz Festival, Force Fields, FVDED in the Park, Nocturnal Valley, and a headline show at Mirus Gallery Denver.
