Independent country-pop artist Carolyn Miller releases the official music video for “American Heartbeat” September 11th.
For Miller, a Long Island native who experienced the impact of September 11 firsthand growing up in New York, the song has carried a deeply personal significance since she first heard it. Written by Emily Shackelton (Reba McEntire, Carly Pearce, Lauren Alaina), Phil Barton (Lee Brice’s “A Woman Like You”), and Victoria Banks (Reba McEntire, Sara Evans, Jessica Simpson), “American Heartbeat” is a reflection on resilience, unity and the everyday people and places that make up the fabric of America.
The milestone arrives amid a breakout stretch for Miller. This week, PEOPLE featured the New York country artist in a story detailing the unexpected role Meghan Trainor played in launching her music career. Miller shared how a 2018 social media shoutout from the GRAMMY-winning artist became an early catalyst that encouraged her to pursue music seriously — a career she has since built independently, brick by brick, between New York and Nashville.
