Kobalt Signs Childish Gambino

Kobalt, a music and technology company built for artists, songwriters, publishers and labels as an alternative to the traditional music business model, announced that it has signed Grammy award winning, actor, comedian, writer, director, producer, singer, songwriter, rapper, and DJ, Donald Glover, a.k.a., Childish Gambino. The worldwide agreement includes publishing administration, including global synch and creative support services, for all of Childish Gambino’s future songs after the Awaken, My Love! album. In addition, Kobalt has signed Wolf + Rothstein, Glover’s musical teams of collective songwriters and artists for publishing administration, global synch and creative support services.

Said Kobalt Music SVP, Creative, Al McLean, of the deal, “Donald is one of those rare multi-talented artists who can do it all. It’s an honor to sign Donald and Wolf + Rothstein Collective to the Kobalt family.”

Emmy-, Golden Globe-, and Grammy-winning actor, writer, comedian, DJ, and rapper Donald Glover broke into pop culture mainstream first on the hit TV sitcom Community after serving on the writing staff of both The Daily Show and 30 Rock. In August 2011, he signed to Glassnote Records under his rap moniker Childish Gambino and has since released two albums. Glover also currently stars in the FX series Atlanta, which he also created and occasionally directs.

Operating out of Temple Studios in Los Angeles, Wolf + Rothstein is the creative agency comprised of Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Donald Glover, Wolf Taylor, and Fam Rothstein, all whom worked with the band that helped compose the critically acclaimed Awaken My Love! Released December 2, 2017, Awaken My Love! and the chart-topping hit single “Redbone” are nominated for five Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Traditional R&B Performance (winner), Best R&B Song, and Best Urban Contemporary Album. Childish Gambino is set to perform on Saturday Night Live on May 5, 2018.

“Wolf and Rothstein is excited to partner with Kobalt for publishing,” said Wolf Taylor of Wolf + Rothstein. “We’re looking forward to growing the roster together.”

You can make yourself a fancy cup of tea in this concept Mercedes Maybach SUV

The car comes with a bespoke tea set and a heated tray

The 2018 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition is currently running in China, and Mercedes has unveiled a new concept high-end luxury SUV at the event. The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV features a spacious interior, and there’s even a bespoke tea set hidden in the car’s console. The car is sleek, cherry red, and aimed at the Chinese market, where the color red symbolizes happiness, luck, and joy.

The model is conceived as being fully electric, with all-wheel drive and four seats (one driver and three passengers). Mercedes says the system allows a charging capacity of up to 350kW, and with five minutes of charging, the car will have an additional range of 62 miles (100km). It can be charged by cable or through induction.

SUV

The seats are positioned significantly higher than in other SUVs. Mercedes said that came from a desire of many of its customers for a “feeling of protection and security.” The white seats are made from nappa leather, and the interior accents are rose gold. The exterior front plate also features the chrome-plated radiator grilles that were first debuted on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 in 2016.

The vehicle has double 12.3-inch displays for the driver, a touchscreen and touchpad on the center console, and touch control buttons on the steering wheel. There is also the capability for voice control, and Mercedes says the system adjusts to the user’s voice and adapts to new words used.

inside

The company says the design mixes influences from the Western and Far Eastern hemispheres. It also incorporates Chinese design elements like ebony, which Mercedes says is known as “Magic Wood” often used in Chinese furniture. The tea set, which includes a teapot and cups, is made of china, and the sculpted wooden tray is made of ebony. The console is equipped with an integrated heated tray so you can happily drink tea without worrying about where to boil water. You can access the tea set by pressing a button which electronically reveals it. Mercedes says there are also a variety of teas available and “relaxation programs” for passengers sitting in the back.

Tea

According to Mercedes, the car is smart enough to “act with anticipation” and can play music to match your current mood and plan routes according to your appointments. The car also features Mercedes’ Energizing Control, a wellness tool that systematically controls the vehicle’s climate control system and seats to optimize comfort for the driver and passengers. The system controls how cool or warm the car is, fragrances released, music played, and heating, ventilation, and massage functions in the seats.

maybach

The concept car is the definition of extra. But if you have the money, why not enjoy life and tea while driving? There’s no indication yet of when these features might make it into a real vehicle, though.

2019 BMW Z4 Roadster Interior Revealed in New Spy Images

Written By | STEVE SILER

It’s unlikely very much carries over to the Supra . . . it’s all BMW in there.

What It Is: A pair of 2019 BMW Z4 prototypes circling a roundabout near Germany’s famous Nürburgring racetrack. (Golly, what could they be doing there?)

We have hunted down BMW’s once and future compact roadster twice already—once on track last summer and again in a snowy parking lot two months ago—but this marks the first time we’ve seen the car with the top down, as well as what its dashboard and center console look like. Minor design differences between the two cars’ grilles and wheels suggest different trim levels and possibly different powertrains, too.

The topless car shows the regrettable abandonment of the expressive and elegant headrest fairings that appeared on the Concept Z4 show car that previewed this next-gen Z4. They’ve been replaced by squared-off roll hoops not unlike those found on the previous Z4. Also gone are the concept’s shark-nose kidney grille and the multi-element chin spoiler with its deeply recessed mesh inserts. In their place is a blunter, more integrated nose with grille inserts that sit more flush with the car’s body. The outboard elements appear to be merely decorative.

The interior shots reveal layout and design motifs clearly in sync with current BMWs, and the show car’s awesome deep-dish steering wheel is nowhere in sight. At least one of the prototypes seen here has a fully digitized instrument cluster that mimics the concept’s cool speedo and tach layout; a separate image shows an instrument cluster concealed by a black panel through which conventional dials bracketing a smaller center display appear to be barely visible. The center console, however, with its shifter and iDrive controls, could have been lifted directly from the concept.

Why It Matters: Just as the Concept Z4’s expressive exterior has been toned down considerably for production, so, too, has its interior. If the engineers also take this tack and remain conservative in terms of its dynamic attributes, the Z4 could drive more like the benign previous-generation model rather than a rowdy ragtop. But then, a rowdy ragtop is what BMW needs to help restore some shine to its performance credentials.

Platform: The 2019 Z4 roadster will ride on a platform shared with the upcoming Toyota Supra, the latter offered only as a hardtop coupe while the BMW will come only in softtop convertible form. We’re not sure that will always remain the case, but it makes sense to clearly differentiate the products at launch. If BMW is able to keep weight down, performance should match or surpass that of the outgoing Z4. Switching back to a softtop design will certainly help on the weight front while presumably also lowering the center of gravity and increasing available luggage space.

Powertrain: If we were bettin’ folks, we would say that the car with the black wheels and stowed roof is a Z4 sDrive30i, powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four worth about 250 horsepower or so, while the car with the larger-looking silver-finished wheels and raised top is a Z4 M40i model with BMW’s familiar turbocharged inline-six underhood, which ought to be good for at least the same 335 horses and 369 lb-ft of torque it is expected to produce when installed in the Toyota Supra. Both engines will be offered with six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions in the BMW. A more powerful M version could very well appear down the road, possibly with the 425-hp twin-turbo inline-six from the M3/M4.

Competition: Audi TT, Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar F-type, Porsche 718 Boxster.

Estimated Arrival and Price: The new Z4 should arrive later this year. The outgoing model starts just under $51K with its complex folding hard top; we figure the new soft-roofed model will start somewhere around $50,000.

Sony Debuts Virtual Reality Mapping Technology in Groundbreaking Music Video at SXSW

It’s the first time the tech was used in a music video

Written By | Ann-Marie Alcántara

Sony closed out its week-long activation at South by Southwest with some fluffy clouds, a cash bar, special musical performances and a new type of virtual reality experience.

The second half of Sony’s activation, which ran from March 15-16, concluded with the debut of artist Khalid’s “Young, Dumb and Broke” VR music video. For the first time in a music video, VR projection mapping technology was used. The technique enhances VR with 360-degree “stereoscopic” images, making it possible to display images on objects within the experience. In this case, Khalid’s original video, “Young, Dumb and Broke,” is being projected onto different aspects within the video, like the ocean and planets.

“This idea of using projection mapping inside a virtual world was something that was created through an original Sony interactive entertainment engine,” said Miki Anan, senior manager, entertainment partnerships at Sony.

Visitors who came to Sony’s “Lost in Music” event put on Playstation VR headsets and were first guided through the company’s “acoustic vessel odyssey,” an audio journey with an immersive sound experience. The audio and light show included a whopping 576 speakers, as well as a unique light installation created by digital artists, Kimchi and Chips.

After seeing, hearing and taking plenty of Instagram-worthy photos, guests then entered the “dreamscape” room, where they could watch the new VR video and get some drinks. They were also treated to performances by artists Tinashe, A.CHAL, Leikeli47, Olivia Noelle and, at the end, Khalid himself.

Sony worked with agency Ralph to come up with the creative for the event, using Mission to put the production together.

We wanted to bring together a completely new type of immersive experience to music lovers,” Anan said.

Anyone who owns a Playstation VR headset will be able to download the video come spring.

The first half of Sony’s activation (March 10-13) included the Wow Studio, which showcased different technologies like Aibo, an AI-driven robotic dog that responds to touch and even barks. The studio was taken down after the interactive portion of the festival ended; the space then solely focused on Khalid’s VR experience during the music portion of SXSW.

Sony will wrap its “Lost in Music” campaign at SXSW on March 16 with performances by Noah Cyrus, Cam, Caitlyn Smith, Lo Moon, Morgan Saint and The Accidentals.

The technology Sony debuted was yet another example of brands breaking the mold with unique activations during the festival. As Adweek senior tech editor Lauren Johnson noted, while there have been less activations than in past years, this year’s presented a host of new and unique experiences, including BeautyRest inviting 150 people to sleep on its beds and Grindr editing over 50 Wikipedia pages to add LGBTQ information.

BMW is helping to build the world’s fastest racing drone

It loaned a wind tunnel and expertise to the Drone Racing League (DRL).

BMW is working with the Drone Racing League (DRL) to break the record for the world’s fastest drone set by the DRL itself last year. BMW will loan its technical expertise and wind tunnel at its Aerodynamic Test Center to help the league break the 165.2 mph Guinness world speed record it set with its DRL RacerX drone. The automaker is also bring a DRL race to its BMW Welt exhibition center and museum in Munich, Germany.

The Drone Racing League has grown rapidly, thanks to a deal with ESPN and new, more spectator- and competitor-friendly DRL Racer 3. The new model, used by all pilots to ensure races are strictly a test of pilot skill, is more crash resistant and easier for spectators to follow.

BMW’s linkup with drone racing might seem a bit odd, but the company said drone racing isn’t that far removed from motorsports. “[It] is a very competitive type of racing, characterized by the interplay of extremely high-performance material and digital technology,” said BMW Brand Experience head Jörg Reimann. DRL hinted that the Munich race will happen in BMW’s international automobile museum near Olympiapark.

BENTLEY AND TINA GUO – THE SOUND OF ELECTRIC

  • Bentley announces collaboration with world-renowned cellist Tina Guo
  • Guo composes and performs an original piece for electric cello for new Bentayga Hybrid
  • Guo to make live appearances with Bentley throughout 2018

(Crewe, 15 March 2018) Bentley Motors is today announcing an exciting new partnership with world-renowned cellist, Tina Guo.

Guo recently composed, performed and produced the launch music for the first luxury hybrid vehicle in the world – the Bentayga Hybrid – and will work closely with Bentley throughout 2018 with a schedule of live performances and guest appearances.

Christophe Georges, Director of Marketing for Bentley, comments: “Tina is an extraordinary talent. Through her compositions and performances on her electric cello, Tina has taken the sound of an acoustic cello – a beautiful luxury instrument hand-crafted from the finest materials – and made it contemporary and modern with the addition of electricity. We have achieved the same feat with the new Bentayga Hybrid, and we are excited to be working with her.”

Speaking about the partnership, Guo said: “I’ve always had a passion for cars and Bentley in particular, so to be composing and performing for such an amazing brand is a huge honour for me.

“Last week I was able to take time during a tour of Switzerland to visit the Geneva Motor Show and see the unveil of the Bentayga Hybrid set to my music. It was such a special moment and I’m very excited for the year ahead with Bentley.”

The piece of music composed and performed by Guo reflects the tranquil and refined interior space offered by the Bentayga Hybrid. In pure EV mode, the car makes effortless progress for up to 31 miles (50 km) in silence thanks to the electric drivetrain and provides an oasis of calm in the city and beyond. The Bentayga Hybrid will go on sale later this year as the first step towards a sustainable, electrified future for Bentley.

In October 2016, Guo signed an exclusive recording contract with Sony Music and her debut Sony album “GAME ON!” was released February 10, 2017. Guo performs on a Gand & Bernadel cello made in Paris, France in 1878, a customized Yamaha SVC-210 electric cello, and an erhu made in Shanghai, China.

SERENITY THROUGH TECHNOLOGY: THE PIONEERING BENTLEY BENTAYGA HYBRID

  • World’s first luxury hybrid
  • Serene driving experience utilises future-focussed technology
  • Bentley’s first step towards electrification
  • Advanced electric motor combines with new V6 petrol engine
  • Battery recharged in 2.5 hrs

(Crewe, 5 March 2018) Bentley is today announcing full details of the world’s first luxury hybrid model. The Bentayga Hybrid represents Bentley’s first step towards full electrification, combining the serenity of silent motoring with exquisite comfort and effortless performance.

Offering the best of both worlds, the new plug-in hybrid model combines an advanced electric motor with a powerful and efficient new-generation V6 petrol engine. The hybrid version of the world’s most luxurious SUV will be the company’s most efficient model ever with CO2 emissions of 75 g/km (NEDC).

The Bentayga Hybrid feels and rides like a true Bentley, providing the refinement, effortless performance and exquisitely tranquil cabin environment for which the luxury British brand is famed. It represents the future of luxury mobility; an oasis of calm and tranquillity in the city and beyond.

Adrian Hallmark, new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bentley Motors, said: “The Bentayga Hybrid is our first step on the road to electrification, combining traditional Bentley values with the very latest technologies. It gives customers the best of both worlds – engaging, effortless performance on the open road and silent, emission-free driving in the city, which will become increasingly important with the ever-changing regulations around the world.

“Following Bentley tradition, the Bentayga Hybrid pioneers a new automotive sector – the luxury hybrid – and sets Bentley on the path towards a sustainable electrified future.”

Bentayga Hybrid is not yet available to order. It will become available to order in selected markets from the second half of 2018.

Intelligent, Experience-Enhancing Technology

At the heart of the Bentayga Hybrid are two power sources – a highly efficient electric motor and a new turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. The E Motor acts as both an electric motor and a generator to offer a seamless driving experience and guaranteeing maximum electric-only range.

The Hybrid adds a new dimension to the existing range of luxury Bentayga models. It features all the flexibility associated with the W12, V8 Diesel and V8 derivatives, with the same sure-footed permanent four-wheel drive and four on-road modes – Sport, Bentley, Comfort and Custom.

The Automatic Start-Stop switch is replaced with a control for the three E Modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode. These will enable the driver to manage battery usage during a journey.

The Bentayga Hybrid requires new and different information to be relayed to the driver. As a result, a revised infotainment screen and Driver’s Information Panel with E Motion information have been designed to provide details on performance, consumption and energy source.

The traditional tachometer that displays engine speed is replaced with a dial showing when the car is operating in pure EV Drive, or engine speed if the combustion engine is operating. A battery status dial replaces the coolant temperature gauge.

The infotainment screen can display energy flow in each of the three E Modes, showing whether the vehicle is being powered by energy supplied by the battery, or the combustion engine – or whether energy is flowing back to the battery in order to charge it.

To maximise efficiency, the vehicle uses satellite navigation information to calculate the best usage of electric motor and engine for every journey. Inputting a destination into the navigation system will command the car to automatically engage the correct E Mode for each part of the journey, constantly calculating the most efficient use of battery charge and storing electrical energy for sections of the journey where it is most useful – such as when arriving in the city. The system will reduce on-board charge to zero just as the vehicle reaches its destination, maximising overall efficiency.

A number of Hybrid-specific functions will also be introduced to the latest Connected Car ‘MyBentley3’ services, including My Battery Charge, My Cabin Comfort, and My Car Status, operated via a smartphone app.

Bentley has prioritised the charging experience to ensure that owning a Bentayga Hybrid is as easy as owning a conventional car. Controllable remotely from a Smartphone, or in-person via the on-board charging point, the charging status and programming will be visible on the MMI drivers’ screen and on the user’s smartphone via an app.

Other unique features include E-Charging, where the app will list nearby or relevant charging stations (based on your search criteria), and give you the option to set them as destinations on the car navigation system; and My Cabin Comfort which allows you to set the car to heat (or cool) itself so that the cabin is at the optimum temperature when the door is opened.

The Bentayga Hybrid’s Vehicle Charge Point is located on the opposite side to the normal fuel filler. From here, the car can be connected to either a domestic power supply, or a public charger point. The rear luggage compartment will hold two bespoke bags containing the necessary cables to connect the car to either.

With an impressive electric range of over 31 miles (50 km) in the NEDC cycle, a full charge of the battery from a domestic household socket will take 7.5 hours. However, customers with an industrial connection installed at home can reduce the charge time to just 2.5 hours.

Timeless Bentley by Starck Power Dock

Bentley has collaborated with renowned designer, Philippe Starck, to create a concept for a highly desirable recharging unit for Bentayga Hybrid customers – the Power Dock.

The statement piece showcases the exquisite attention to detail you would expect from both Bentley and Starck, using sustainable and elegant materials. The stylish surround is formed from pressed eco-linen with bio-sourced thermosetting resin, while the domed frontage is fashioned using a hot-pressure aluminium casting.

The minimal and elegant Power Dock is designed to keep charging cables neat and safe at home. Furthermore, it brings a luxurious touch to the act of hybrid recharging, acting as a functional piece of art that will enhance any home.

Starck’s elegant creation – with its tactile surfaces and inviting aesthetic – will encourage Bentayga Hybrid customers to plug-in whenever they are at home, thus ensuring each journey begins with the maximum electric-only range.

Innovative Features and Advanced Technologies

A suite of driver assistance systems and infotainment features, designed to enhance safety, comfort and convenience make the Bentayga Hybrid an innovative and advanced SUV.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Traffic Assist enable the driver to maintain a time gap to the vehicle in front. Predictive ACC uses the navigation data, sensors and cameras to predict upcoming corners, city boundaries and speed-limit changes and can then modify the vehicle speed accordingly, improving both comfort and fuel economy.

In urban environments, there are a number of driver aids available on the Bentayga Hybrid. These systems – such as Traffic Sign Recognition, which detects a wide variety of traffic signs and displays information to the driver; Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, which uses radar technology to detect crossing traffic when reversing out of a parking space; and Top View, a system which uses four cameras to display an overall picture of the vehicle’s surroundings – combine to enhance everyday usability.

Park Assist is also available – a system that detects suitable parking spaces (both parallel and perpendicular) before autonomous steering takes over to support parking manoeuvres, even in narrow and tricky spaces.

Other innovative systems available include Electronic Night Vision, which uses infra-red technology to identify potential obstacles ahead, and a Head-Up Display, which reduces driver distraction and increases safety.

The Bentayga’s 8” touch screen infotainment system boasts class-leading navigation technology, a 60GB hard drive, and a choice of up to 30 languages.

Rear seat passengers benefit from the Bentley Entertainment Tablet – a removable 10.2” Android device with 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth for effortless, high-speed on-board connectivity.

Customers can choose between three different sound systems for the Bentayga Hybrid: Bentley Standard Audio, Bentley Signature Audio and Naim for Bentley Premium Audio. The latter is the most powerful system in the segment, with 1,950 watts, a network of 18 speakers and super-tweeters for unrivalled recreation of the highest audio frequencies.

Sculptural Form, Sharp Lines and Elegant Execution

The Bentayga Hybrid’s wheel arches, fenders and bonnet deliver a balance between sportiness and SUV presence.

The ultra-sharp Bentley power line and muscular rear haunch display a taut tension in side profile, as part of the largest single-piece aluminium pressing in the automotive world. Trademark Bentley features such as the large matrix grille and B-shaped wing vents afford the Bentayga a modern, dynamic elegance.

At the rear, within the segmented tail lights, a ‘B’-shaped illumination graphic is incorporated that affords the Bentayga an instantly recognisable and striking night-time signature.

Bentley’s most efficient model ever will be identifiable thanks to a number of elegant exterior styling cues. Copper-coloured ‘Hybrid’ badging on the lower front doors and tailgate – and a copper finish to the wheel centres and Bentley badges – highlight the electric performance potential of the Bentayga’s new powertrain. Additionally, the insert on the tread plates will also read ‘Hybrid’.

The World’s Finest Cabin, Handcrafted at the Home of Bentley

Step inside the Bentayga Hybrid and you find the finest automotive interior in the world, with handcrafted wood and leather throughout – engineered with precision to deliver absolute perfection.

The attention to detail in metal, wood and leather is the epitome of modern British luxury, and is only achievable thanks to the exceptional skill of the workforce in Crewe.

The Bentayga’s cockpit sets new standards for both luxury and precision, with meticulous tolerances between the exquisite veneered woods and metal elements. The dashboard takes the iconic Bentley ‘wing’ design as its inspiration, with the beautifully finished surfaces flowing gracefully from door to door over the top of the instrument binnacles, down under the centre console and back up around the passenger side fascia and foot well.

The hand-selected veneers form pure and elegant surfaces throughout the cabin, and each of the 15 pieces are shaped by Bentley’s artisans from a choice of seven different veneers, and finished with trademark Bentley attention to detail.

Highly polished, handcrafted metal elements adorn the dashboard, centre console and doors. Trademark Bentley knurling on the drive mode selector, gear knob, iconic bulls-eye vents and organ pulls adds sophistication and tactile refinement.

Sumptuous front seats, individually handcrafted in Crewe and featuring 22-way adjustment including adjustable cushion and backrest bolsters, provide superb support and comfort for all conditions. This cosseted feeling is further enhanced with a six-programme massage system, seat heating and ventilation.

Whether selected in four- or five-seat configuration, all of the leather seats in the Bentayga are available with contrast stitching and a quilted diamond design applied to the ‘shoulders’ and bolsters, echoing the design of a finely tailored British hunting jacket.

Bentley specialists individually select only the finest bull hides, all of which are sourced from cool European climates, naturally tanned and never over-printed. Customers have the choice of 15 colours, in three duo-tone and one single mono-tone colour split.

The four-seat configuration makes the ultimate statement in design, comfort and luxury.  The two individual rear seats adjust in 18 different ways and include massage and ventilation functions as well as footrests. The veneered rear console hides additional functionality such as cup holders, generous storage areas and USB charging sockets.

The opulent feeling is completed by the fixed back, dividing the interior cabin from the boot.  Also trimmed in the signature diamond quilting and including a ski-hatch, it creates an enclosed rear cabin space that sets new standards in the SUV sector.

The full-length panoramic sunroof with acoustic interlayers allows ample natural sunlight to highlight the surfaces and detailing.

THE MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS GETS EVEN MORE LUXURIOUS FOR 2019

Written By | Collin Woodard

More power, more standard features, and more technology

Past versions of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class have generally been solid cars, but they haven’t always felt particularly special. With the 2015 redesign of the C-Class, however, that all changed. Not only does it now look like a smaller S-Class, the interior almost looks like it could be out of the S-Class. To keep it from feeling dated, though, Mercedes gave the 2019 C-Class an update that adds power, new standard features, and even more technology.

Exterior changes have been kept subtle and focus on refining the car’s appearance more than changing it. The new front and rear bumpers are well-integrated and help give the car even more of an S-Class feel. Mercedes also made LED headlights and taillights standard, designed new 17-inch wheels for the base model, added two paint colors, and redesigned the key. Inside, the C-Class gets a new steering wheel, but beyond that, the cabin looks pretty much the same.

But while the visual updates are minimal, the C-Class didn’t necessarily need any major design changes. Instead, Mercedes chose to add standard features and offer more technology options. So when you buy a new C-Class, push-button start, a power-retractable sunroof, wood trim, a 7.0-inch infotainment system, and automatic braking are all included. The base engine also now makes an extra 14 hp, bringing the total up to 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque.

Customers looking for a little more luxury can add a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a heads-up display, NFC wireless charging, and a Burmester sound system. Most importantly, though, the E-Class‘ semiautonomous driver assistance package is also an option.

Under the right conditions, the new C-Class will be able to follow the car in front of it at a safe distance, maintain its lane, adjust its speed based on the speed limit, and change lanes with a tap of the turn signal. The system isn’t as advanced as Cadillac’s SuperCruise or Tesla’s Autopilot, nor is it remotely close to being fully autonomous, but it’s still impressive.
